Can confirm SF is a small town. Ran into two GSB classmates on the street every single day this week. Already feels like home. 🏠

A great workplace doesn't happen by accident. When you give talented people the freedom to think outside the box, innovation follows. Thank you to @SFNet_National for including us in the 2026 Great Places to Work issue. Read the full feature here: bit.ly/4wzXFyN

I moved to SF this week, and while unpacking boxes that had been in storage for the past two years, I found my original Stanford University Graduate School of Business acceptance letter, which arrived in the mail almost three years ago. It made me smile and got me thinking about all the valuable experiences I was fortunate to have over the past two years. I knew I’d learn in great classes and meet incredible people, but I didn’t realize how much self-reflection business school would bring, or how much I’d learn about working with others. Ultimately, I gained frameworks for life. I’ve been journaling over the past two years and writing blog posts to process my thoughts and learn, but I haven’t been sharing them publicly. I’ve decided now is the time, so I’m relaunching my Substack, Maria’s Musings, with a first post on the life frameworks I'm taking with me from the GSB. open.substack.com/pub/mgilfo… Subscribe for more posts, and I hope you enjoy! If you’re in SF, let me know!

Wild chart from Jim Reid at Deutsche Bank, showing how much OpenAI is expected to burn before turning a profit. A couple things stand out also: How small the $AMZN burn really was for its first 8 years. How big the $UBER burn was before ultimately getting in the black

🎙️Had a blast chatting with @may_habib, founder and CEO of @Get_Writer, one of the fastest-growing enterprise AI companies! ✨We discussed her journey founding a GenAI company before the ChatGPT craze, building an enterprise-grade product and GTM motion with 200%+ net retention (!), what role RAG and vectorDBs have in the enterprise, and much more! May is a second-time founder and dropped a bunch of gems for anyone out there building in #AI. 🎧Tune in and subscribe wherever you listen to your podcasts: YouTube: youtu.be/oJwkiee3Rds Spotify: spoti.fi/49ZVCsh Apple:  apple.co/3V1krzR Podcast Addicts: bit.ly/4bXjTRH Madrona site (includes transcript): bit.ly/3Vb3VNT

Not me! Sounds like this may be the best time to build and invest in the next big consumer company. Other factors are encouraging some VCs to shift their strategy, but "VCs giving up on the idea of investing in consumer" is wrong.

Consumers aren't going anywhere and will continually have new interests that can be filled by startups. Also, consumer sentiment climbed 29% over the last two months (sca.isr.umich.edu/).
