It's true that men usually prefer books by men, but that preference isn't biological, it's sociological. At the end of the day, it's believed that women write about women's feelings and men write about the human condition.

From a distance, I saw a kind, sensitive, Polish-looking, young white man with a center part in Toledo and immediately assumed it was a certain uoydsa comrade. That’s My Bad. 🦆

All three “neutral” are actually “don’t know enough” My “heavily disagree with” tier is kinda slanderous, I wish there was a lower one so I could separate North Star+JBA from the others

I believe all women are natural pilots. I believe the term "a woman's intuition" refers to her God-given proclivities toward understanding such concepts as yaw, pitch, and roll. That's just how I am.

🚨 YDSA Elects “Break the Law and Get Away With It” Organizer to DSA’s National Leadership Mae Bracelin and James Hernández, two Bread & Roses–backed, labor-focused YDSA organizers, have won their races for YDSA co-chair and will now sit on DSA’s National Political Committee, effectively its board of directors. Bracelin, a University of Oregon student organizer, has argued that labor activists must learn to “start breaking the law and getting away with it.” She boasts that her union practiced “a lot of militancy,” carried out direct actions, “broke a lot of rules,” and won. She also celebrates bringing Students for Justice in Palestine onto the picket line and says she has worked to prepare unions for a May Day 2028 general strike. That is especially notable because YDSA just passed a resolution committing the organization to help build toward that same May Day 2028 general strike as part of an international effort. Interesting days ahead.

We need a strong labor co-chair, and we need an incumbent who knows how to mentor chapters. None of the candidates available have the same resume these two have. To build a fighting, working class organization, R&R recommends ranking Mae #1 and James #2 for co-chair!

We genuinely need an anti smoking campaign in DSA bc we’re about to hit a critical mass of 30 and 40 year olds who don’t have the lung capacity to canvass.

Staffers have politics, and their decisions and advice they give are informed by them. Staff shouldn't act like a political tendency or use their unique resources as staff to further a set of politics. Treating staff as apolitical actors only obscures their political decisions.

Last Sunday Love Island may have aired it’s finale but this race isn’t over yet! Mae and James are running to be Co-chairs of YDSA to arm every chapter with the tools to win on their campuses and unite with the labor movement against the far right.

Toussaint L’Ouverture was obviously a great and fascinating figure but the line “I would compare him to Washington, but the Virginian held slaves” is somewhat marred by the fact that L’Ouverture also 100% owned slaves
“I would call him Napoleon, but Napoleon made his way to empire over broken oaths and through a sea of blood. This man never broke his word. I would call him Cromwell, but Cromwell was only a soldier, and the state he founded went down with him into his grave. I would call him Washington, but the great Virginian held slaves. This man risked his empire rather than permit the slave trade in the humblest village of his dominions. You think me a fanatic, for you read history, not with your eyes, but with your prejudices. But fifty years hence, when Truth gets a hearing, the Muse of history will put Phocion for the Greek, Brutus for the Roman, Hampden for the English, La Fayette for France, choose Washington as the bright, consummate flower of our earlier civilization, then, dipping her pen in the sunlight, will write in the clear blue, above them all, the name of the soldier, the statesman, the martyr, Toussaint L’Ouverture.” -Wendell Phillips
