In my new piece, I compare the number of shoe-sponsored skateboarders and shoe brands sponsoring skaters in 2026 with 2006. I also write about mag ads, CONS exit and more. walkerryan.substack.com/p/pr…
Don’t let the Taylor Lorenz discourse distract you. It’s literally distracting leftist from midterms and focusing on battle ground elections that matter
Every time this lefty vs lefty (or whatever) discourse happens, it’s at the behest of shit that actually matters

Look, is AI making our lives better? No. But is it making things less expensive? Unfortunately, the opposite. Now, is it making the internet a better place? More slop than ever, actually! But does it allow us to spend more time being creative? That's actually the thing it's best at stealing without shame. Though, surely it's making us smarter, right? You’ll never guess, but…

ALT The year is 2008. A voice emanates from the grey body paint factory saying "sales are way down since the recession." An executive brandishes a gun and says "gentlemen, it's been an honour." A voice comes from off panel and says "WAIT! Our junior ad exec came up with an idea." Andrew Hussie holds up a sign depicting one of the trolls from Homestuck.
I’ve been away from twitter for a minute. I have nothing nice to say about Fugazi (the brand). I do have something critical to say. It’s one word. Derivative (derogatory)
That's too bad for Fugazi the brand, but Vans shoulda known better.
Fugazi the band has never sold merch and is anti-consumerist. Anyone into punk knows this. Vans knows this because they originated from the same scene.
My guess is Vans lawyers saw that Fugazi the brand owns trademarks so it should all be fine and the execs who should know this lore didn't think it through.

I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Earth’s nemesis, Thanos. While we were often on opposing sides of humanity, for example I thought we shouldn’t arbitrarily eliminate half the population, I respected his commitment to fitness and great taste in jewelry.
