VIDEO | Hyderabad: Fuldhar Netam, a police personnel from Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district, won the open category of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon with a timing of 2 hours and 45 minutes. Netam trained around his police duties, practising in the mornings and evenings and doing more intensive workouts on his days off. He was among around 170 runners from Bastar and Dantewada sponsored by NMDC for the marathon. NMDC director Krishna Kumar Thakur says, “It is a very great achievement for Mr. Phoolchand Netam. He is completely raw talent and comes from a region that is still one of the remotest parts of the country and, until recently, was highly affected by Left-Wing Extremism (LWE). As a result, there was very limited access to developmental and sporting activities in the region. Despite the lack of resources, this individual achieved first place in his very first attempt at the prestigious Hyderabad Marathon. It is a great achievement for him. We at NMDC feel very satisfied that we have been able to provide a platform to such youth.” (Full video available on PTI Videos - ptivideos.com)
