Every dollar is a lifeline
Mervat Sulaiman Ibrahim Abu Tayyem is a 48-year-old divorced woman from Gaza who lives alone in a tent on rented land that costs $70 a month. Her parents have passed away, and she has no provider or steady source of income. Before the genocide, Mervat studied accounting at university, worked, and supported herself through her work as a skilled seamstress. She also has a small project called MAISON MIRO | Ψ¨ΩΨͺ Ω
ΩΨ±Ω, inspired by her Palestinian identity and her love of embroidery, sweets, chocolate, and Arabic coffee, which she hopes can eventually become a source of income again. Mervat had a serious esophageal condition before the siege and traveled to Egypt for surgery, after which she recovered and returned to her normal life. Since the genocide began, she has lost her income and has struggled to access proper food, medicine, and medical care. Because she lives alone, she has to handle everything herself, including carrying heavy water gallons despite being advised not to lift heavy objects. This has worsened her back and spinal problems and led to a slipped disk, and she now needs physiotherapy as well. Her esophageal problems have also returned, and doctors have diagnosed her with a hiatal hernia and severe weakness of the esophageal muscle, for which she needs surgery and follow-up treatment outside Gaza, potentially requiring her to remain abroad for up to a year for recovery. She needs a special diet, clean water, medication, medical tests, doctor visits, and regular follow-up, but she cannot afford her medications and often relies on painkillers. Because she is living alone, NGOs often do not provide her with assistance as they prioritize families, leaving her without support. Before the genocide, Mervat received a pension because her brother was martyred during the First Intifada, but that support stopped after the siege began. She now needs around $500 each month for rent, medication, food, and water, about $250 to repair her tent, and additional funds for physiotherapy and medical treatment. Her health has also made it difficult for her to continue sewing because she cannot sit for long periods. Mervat is asking for support to cover her treatment and basic needs while she works toward rebuilding her health and eventually returning to work and supporting herself again.
I am from Gaza, and I urgently need surgery and medical treatment. π

Isn't the context of this scene that Jotaro definitely knew he was gonna lose but kept raising the vet to intimidate the other guy into a heart attack or something

This morning, Misk should have been going to school like any other child in the world.
Instead, the Nazi Israeli army shot at her and killed her.
Misk is NOT a number.
Children of Gaza are NOT numbers.
