In MP2, we'll conduct two delay of gratification tasks, the exchange and accumulation paradigm (it's not required that individuals partake in both tasks). Data can be submitted until 31/08/23.
The first data for the exchange task are already in (thx to @JuliabBrun & @V_DubleU!):
Our analyses demonstrate a considerable contribution of phylogeny over ecological and social factors on the distribution of short-term memory performance in primates; closely related species had more similar short-term memory abilities.
Our results confirm previous findings that longer delays decrease memory performance across species and taxa.
We studied 421 captive #primates, representing 41 different species, at 29 sites in a pre-registered, experimental delayed-response task.
"Collaborative #openscience as a way to #reproducibility
and new insights in #primate cognition research" - New @ManyPrimates paper.
We systematically reviewed the primate cognition literature of the last 5y wrt study sites, sample sizes, species, etc:

We are excited to announce the first ManyPrimates modeling challenge. As part of MP1 (we anticipate data from 400+ primates from 30+ species) we want to test evolutionary hypotheses about short-term memory. For more details visit: manyprimates.github.io/mp1/m… (submission date 31/03)
The surveyed 574 primate cognition studies have a median sample size of just 7 individuals. The only species for which we observed larger samples were the ones already overrepresented in the field.
Less than 15% of primate species were studied at all in this period (the studied species are highlighted in black in the chronogram) in the 22 relevant journals that we surveyed.
New @ManyPrimates preprint (to appear in the Japanese Psychological Review):

A systematic review of #primate cognition research published between 2014 & 2019 to quantify sample sizes and identify sampling biases
We worked with apes, monkeys, and prosimians and found interesting differences within and across species in their short-term memory that could not have been revealed without this large/diverse subject pool. #ManyPrimates is a testament to collaboration and open science.
We are proud and excited to announce the publication of the results of the first #ManyPrimates collaboration.
Working together, primatologists from around the world studied the short-term memory of 176 primates (12 species) housed at 11 sites! journals.plos.org/plosone/ar…
Hey #Behaviour2019 come learn about the @ManyPrimates Project at poster 12 tonight!
ManyPrimates is a collaborative research effort aiming to increase the number of subjects and species tested in primate cognition research. Learn from @LydiaMHopper about how you can contribute!
Excited to announce that we are ready to start data collection for the first #ManyPrimates project! MP1 is a continuation of our pilot study, for which we hope to include many new subjects. More information about the project & how you can contribute here: manyprimates.github.io/mp1/
