Ghanaian businessman Henry Manly-Spain has shown a rare act of honesty and patriotism after he rejected a GH¢79.65 million judgment debt awarded to his company, Servistar Minwax (WA) Limited, by the Accra High Court as a refund of overpaid import duties. According to the businessman, the company’s actual claim was about GH¢8.95 million and should only exceed GH¢10 million with interest. He has petitioned the GRA to stop the payment and called for an independent investigation into the huge difference, saying accepting money he is not entitled to would go against his conscience and be unfair to the nation.
