Pedestrians and cyclists pay a high price when drivers are distracted. We can do better. Manhattan City Ordinance prohibits cell phone use while driving: use a bluetooth, keep your eyes on the road, and pay attention to your surroundings. #Safetyneverstops @bikewalkmhk

There were 45 tornadoes in Kansas last year, and 75.6% of them happened in May. It's time to check the batteries in your weather radio, go over your safety plans, and make sure you kids know what to do in a tornado. See the full report from NOAA at weather.gov/media/top/SWAW_2…

Slight scare tonight. We had a fan moter in an HVAC unit overheat. Caused some smoke but everything is under control. Big thanks to @ManhattanFD and @RileyCountyPD for the quick response. We're hoping to be up and running tomorrow.

I saw a lot being hauled away in Northview today. The street crew is out picking up limbs and yard waste for the annual Spring Cleanup. Looks good!

Our officers do not like to give out expensive tickets but speeding through a school zone or failing to stop when a school bus stop sign is activated causes a huge safety risk to children going to and from school!
