Either the President was lying or Musk was lying, but the decision to slow down satellite speed and access has life or death consequences for Ukraine.
This deserves a full investigation by the Senate. Elon Musk should be compelled to testify before Congress and under oath.
National security decisions should be made in our national security interests, and not based on the personal whim of an unstable executive.

Pence Calls on Trump to Restore Sanctions, Scrap Russia Diesel Deal | The Hill thehill.com/homenews/adminis…

Congress passed tough sanctions on Russia to punish Putin and help end the war in Ukraine. Now the White House turns around and undoes all of that to let Russia off the hook for their illegal invasion. That isn’t maximum pressure. It’s maximum retreat.

Sanctions relief will continue. I think the diesel deal and the move regarding the Lindsey Graham Act are not the end of it. Unfortunately.
It’s unfortunate because we all had great respect for Lindsey. He devoted his life to America. We had an excellent relationship with him. And shortly before the tragedy, Lindsey was in Ukraine. He always supported us very strongly and pushed for as much assistance to Ukraine as possible.
It’s difficult without him, I’ll be honest. I want to thank both Democrats and Republicans who supported his bill. That was a major victory: this truly bipartisan support. And now, the decision to undo all of this, to block all of it, seems wrong to me. And it definitely helps only the Russians. It only fuels their satisfaction and their desire to keep killing people. This certainly does not stop the war.

Latest: Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone."
He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population."
He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory."
"They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this."
He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."

Comrade Trump and the People's Republic of Mar-a-Lago
Donald Trump likes to be seen with strongmen. The question is who is leading whom.
Consider the company. Putin is a former KGB officer and a card-carrying member of the Soviet Communist Party who has ruled Russia for a quarter of a century by crushing anyone who got in his way. Kim presides over a hereditary one-party dictatorship inherited from his father and grandfather. Xi runs the Chinese Communist Party and scrapped his own term limits so he would never have to leave.
Trump is not charming these men. They are charming him. They are hardened authoritarian operators who have spent their lives learning exactly how to handle vanity, ego and weakness, and in Trump they have found all three in one convenient package.
That is the spectacle. The loudest anti-socialist movement in American politics now watches its leader drift towards the very communists and strongmen it once claimed to oppose, and cheers him on while he does it. Trump is not shaping this club. He is being led by it, and the one holding the leash is a Soviet-trained communist named Putin.

🚨BREAKING: This new chart from @TheStudyofWar overlays Ukraine’s strikes on Russian refineries with the price of diesel fuel. There is NO CORRELATION between strikes on Russian refineries and spikes in the price of diesel here in the U.S. They are not driving up prices here.

🇪🇺🇺🇸 The disgrace is confirmed.
Musk approached Trump with the idea of slowing down Starlink in Ukraine.
These restrictions had already contributed to civilian deaths.
Six people were killed in a Russian drone attack on Lutsk on 14 October.
If these restrictions remain, Europe must impose sanctions on Musk’s businesses operating in Europe.
Europe must urgently end its dependence on Starlink.

If this FT reporting is accurate, Europe needs to stop embarrassing itself.
Zelensky is being asked to soften his criticism of Trump because some European leaders are apparently uncomfortable with the tone.
That is extraordinary.
Ukraine is fighting for its survival. Trump is making decisions that directly affect its ability to fight. Zelensky has every right to say so plainly.
If European leaders do not have the nerve to confront Trump themselves, the very least they can do is tolerate hearing from someone who does.
This constant instinct to whisper, flatter and avoid offence is not diplomacy. It is political timidity.
Europe does not need Zelensky to lower his voice.
Europe needs to raise its own.

Piers Morgan: Do you feel betrayed?
🇺🇦 Zelensky: Yes. It's a pity that we are losing a strong partner.
Piers Morgan: You think you're losing America?
🇺🇦 Zelensky: Yeah, but not because of us. We can't be weak. We're not selling our country. Look, guys, it's not about business for us. It's our lives. It's our country, our home, our children.
🇺🇸 Zelensky on Trump:
If you're in the middle, you have to stay in the middle, not on the wrong side.
I think Trump's advisers are wrong. I don't know who is pushing him to the wrong side. This is not the right side of history.

Putin doesn’t want peace. Putin wants Ukraine. Enough is enough.
President Trump should rescind the diesel deal with Russia and return to the strong policies of our four years in the White House; use the Lindsey Graham Sanctioning Russia Act to impose harsh sanctions on any nation purchasing Russian energy and work with our allies to ensure Ukraine has the military support it needs to repel and defeat this Russian invasion once and for all. I CAN WATCH THIS ALL DAY!!
A video is going viral of George Conway pulling out a large poster on MSNBC to prove Donald Trump is a psychopath who suffers from narcissistic personality disorder.
I stand with George Conway 100%!
"He's nine for nine. He's a sick man. And that's what we're seeing. And I think he's had an advantage over these last couple of years that people haven't been seeing him."

Okay, I'm breaking character here. This is not a satire post. My 2-year-old son is in a wheelchair that we can't fit into our car. We are not eligible to apply for a wheelchair accessible vehicle until he is three--and even then we would have to pay about £13,000 towards it (which we don't have).
The idea that disabled people get given free cars willy-nilly is bullshit. My son has to attend regular appointments at various locations. He has a team of specialists dedicated to helping him with an extremely rare neurological condition that means he needs around the clock supervision.
He can't even hold his own head up so a regular car seat is out of the question. He was using a baby seat, but he's outgrown that. It's really tough for us to get around because misinformation from pricks like Nigel influences public opinion. Does this seem right?

He should not control nuclear weapons.

I know that at a certain point it makes me sound naive, but I think we should be clear that a president announcing a ceasefire signed by two warring countries that doesn't actually exist is and should be the sort of thing that gets him swiftly removed from office.

I am grateful to @MarkJCarney for his sympathy for Ukrainians amid the ongoing Russian strikes. The Prime Minister is very well informed about our defense needs, particularly anti-ballistic defense and preparations for winter. It is very good that Canada has become actively involved in developing the FREYJA anti-ballistic system jointly with Europe. This is exactly what can provide greater protection not only to Ukraine but also globally.
Of course, we also discussed the energy ceasefire announced by the President of the United States. Ukraine supports this step, and we have stated so, but now we need a response from Russia – what Russia will say to the American President and whether it will stop striking our energy infrastructure.
I thank everyone who helps defend Ukraine and advances clear, fair steps toward peace! Thank you to Canada and Mark personally for their full support!
