This is what billionaire ownership of the media means: Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta shut down the No Kings account for hours during the height of their protests. Meta suppressed accounts supporting Brazil President Lula da Silva in the recent election. Larry Ellison’s TikTok blocked advertising for a documentary criticizing Elon Musk. Fight back. Defeat oligarchy. Preserve democracy.

Musk sounds like Trump. Both might proclaim their brilliance but not their unconscionable greed.
Delta Air Lines has chosen not to go with Starlink, and Elon Musk is upset. Musk said that Delta’s CEO would “lose his job” for snubbing Starlink. Elon Musk quietly becomes biggest known donor in midterm contests as he tries to save Republicans. nytimes.com/2026/10/09/busin…

The Braak Paradox: When Parkinson’s pathology and clinical progression disconnect. For more than two decades, the Braak hypothesis has shaped how we think about Parkinson’s disease, suggesting that abnormal alpha-synuclein pathology spreads through the brain in a predictable sequence as the disease advances. What resonates with me about this new study by di Biase and colleagues, and the accompanying thoughtful editorial by Rodríguez-Violante in Neurology, is that the biology may be far more complicated than the model. In 61 people with autopsy-confirmed Parkinson’s disease, Braak stage did not correlate with motor disability, disease duration, age at death, or brain weight. In other words, having more widespread alpha-synuclein pathology did not necessarily mean having more advanced clinical disease. The editorial importantly reminds us that this finding does not invalidate Braak staging or the importance of alpha-synuclein, but rather exposes the limitations of using pathology as a clock for clinical progression. Parkinson’s is not one disease following one predictable path, and the frequent presence of other pathologies, including tau, amyloid, and vascular disease, further complicates the picture. For me, the lesson is that we must be careful not to confuse what we see under the microscope with what patients actually experience. As we develop biological staging systems, biomarkers, and disease-modifying therapies, we need to measure not only abnormal proteins but also neuronal loss, clinical disability, and the individual trajectories of people living with Parkinson’s. The patient, not the pathology, must remain at the center of our science. neurology.org/doi/10.1212/WN…

Sheesh. How horrible!

The Godfather of AI shuts down Donald Trump on "super intelligence" and Trump's ignorance, calling him a “corrupt, senile felon.” His fixation on the term superintelligence proves he knows nothing about AI, said Geoffrey Hinton, “godfather” of the technology, in a wide-ranging interview. He doubled down on recent warnings that AI models pose an existential threat to humanity and scoffed at claims the industry could regulate itself, one of Trump's ideas. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

Similar situation in neurology. E.g., MS has multiple genetic correlations, and there is a familial predisposition to MS, but it doesn't help much with diagnosis or treatment. Not so much a flop--opportunity for future gene editing? openevidence.com/ask/cb827d8…

Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

3. The straight A student who fell apart in college is one of the most common stories in late diagnosed women. Intelligence and people-pleasing carried her through school. When the structure dissolved and the workload required independent executive function, there was nothing left to mask with.4/7

Too much focus on AI will never produce great scientist/practitioners like Dr. Deisseroth. It’s not old fashioned to focus on the inner workings of the brain.
I predict: 1)Soon almost everyone will depend on AI as coach/therapist 2)Human therapists will have narrower niche treating more severe problems 3)Many training programs/therapists will be too slow adapting to shift 4)AI will integrate therapy/ending competition among schools
