sun.mv/228833 18 thousand for whom? there are less than 13 thousand unemployed locals in the Maldives. 😁 stats show there are approximately 132,000 to 150,000 registered foreign workers in the Maldives. but, immigration estimates the number much more.

#WavePolitics. tidal change comes in waves. each wave breaks & collapses once it has reached the shallow. interestingly, in wave politics, too, the wave immediately racing behind the collapsed wave will be disturbed from the backwash of the broken wave, losing some of its power!

in politics, it's always easy to say no & call for protests when you are in the opposition. as opposition, u have the luxury to offer poetic promises & vague solutions. the dynamics change when you are in the Hot Seat. You campaign in poetry. You govern in prose. - Mario Cuomo

when leaders purposely project absolute certainty or downplay an impending crisis to maintain control, the strategy often backfires creating a sharp drop in public trust & heightened panic cuz ground reality contradicts the promoted narrative.#StrategicOverconfidence is risky!

MP @Mamdooh_Yoonus logic is quite something, For ordinary citizens: “Taxpayers money shouldn’t be spent sending you abroad if the treatment is available in Maldives.” For himself: Taxpayers fund a premium insurance package that allows him and his family to seek treatment abroad, including Dubai, Singapore and Turkey, even when that treatment is available in Maldives. What kind of entitled, twisted logic is this? Dear MP, if you genuinely believes what he said why do you keep taking a premium healthcare package with tax money ? You cannot preach austerity for the public while enjoying privilege at their expense. One rule for citizens. Another rule for MPs. And somehow the people paying the bill are the ones being lectured.
It was sad, though hardly surprising, to see you stoop so low as to serve PNC’s political interests by proposing changes to the e-petition rules just so PNC could launch its counter-petition. But I didn’t think you would be shameless enough to come before the public and lecture people about how much the state spends on citizens healthcare while you yourself are a beneficiary of the most privileged healthcare packages funded by those very citizens. Taxpayers pay for you to have premium healthcare coverage across more than 21 countries. You, your wife and your children can seek treatment in places such as Singapore, Thailand, Dubai and Turkey, with an annual coverage limit of around 1.3 million. You have access to CASHLESS treatment at over 650 hospitals across Asia, the Middle East and Europe. And we have to continue to give you the insurance till you die! Meanwhile, your constituents are left running from one Gov office to another, calling MPs, ministries and anyone they can reach, trying to get approval or funding for treatment. Not a single ordinary citizen in your constituency receives the healthcare package that you enjoy at their expense. Yet you have the audacity to lecture about how much the state spends on their healthcare? When Ashfaq’s wife needs treatment, your argument as an MP and a public servant is that she can receive that treatment in India. But when your own wife gets sick, taxpayers fund a package that allows you to seek treatment in Dubai, Singapore, Thailand or Turkey even when that treatment is available in Maldives or India. Do you not see the hypocrisy and the double standard? Do you not see how ordinary citizens and you are treated differently? Do you not see that you are so desensitized to this discrimination you talk about this in public as if it’s normal and how it should be ? So answer one simple question for the taxpayers who fund your benefits: Why do you deserve a premium, cashless healthcare package worth around 1.3 million, covering hospitals across Asia, the Middle East and Europe, while the Maldivians you represent are expected to make do with Aasandha? @Mamdooh_Yoonus

Pakistan got independence on August 14, 1947 & India gained independence a day later on August 15. Mountbatten transferred power to Pakistan a day earlier so that he had ample time to fly to New Delhi & transfer power to India at the "stroke of midnight hour" on August 15 1947.
