SindriCAD beta is open. 🎉
Free, open-source parametric CAD for Linux, Windows and Mac — built for 3D printing. No account, no subscription, no trial timer.
Download it now: tinkeratlas.com/sindricad 🧵
$156 to go now. We're getting closer! Thank you to everyone who is supporting, it means more than you know.
$188 is about nineteen people at $10. No ad networks.
If you can't chip in, sharing this with one person who prints things helps more than it sounds. Where it stands:

Good news first: TinkerAtlas stays online in November. The servers are paid, by people who chose to pay for tools they can use for free. Thank you.
Three SindriCAD betas shipped this week. Whether that continues gets decided on the 20th.
That's four people at $10, then about twenty more. No ad networks.

What's new in the SindriCAD beta, in three minutes: a real Thread tool, smarter sketching, and huge scans you can snap to and measure.
All of it free. Here's what keeps it that way.
Also in build 241: pick one point or one side of a shape, name a dimension to make it a parameter, project a point, and faster drags in big sketches.
Everything that's in it:

Print fit backs the flanks off so a printed nut has room to turn. Checked in the model: the rod fits the nut without touching anywhere.
Metric coarse and fine, UNC, UNF, trapezoidal. And Tr8x8 is the real 4-start lead screw almost every printer uses.
Two days ago I said SindriCAD's real Thread tool was next.
It's out. Click a hole or a shaft, it reads the size and picks M6 on its own, choose Print fit, done. A nut and a rod drawn at 6 mm, threaded in a few clicks.
Under the hood, build 238 can also cut exact threads with a helix sweep. Right now you draw the profile yourself, so the real Threads tool is next: pick a hole, pick M6, done.
Everything in 238:

Imported meshes now come back as real shapes. A countersink is one cone, a fillet round a hole is one torus, a rounded corner is one sphere. Not a run of narrow cylinders with made-up radii.
So an STL you downloaded is closer to something you can actually edit.
Extrude in SindriCAD got a panel, because someone on GitHub asked for it to be "really, really powerful."
Start it from a face, a point or a line. Run it up to an edge. Make it symmetric. Type 31.53+2*1.62 and get 34.77, or 1/16 in inches and get exactly a sixteenth.
Funding: $40.60 of $335, and $6.60 of that came in after Tuesday's post. Thank you. It already covers 30% of this month's servers.
The bar's marker is about $105 ahead, with 17 days to the reset. Mac signing is $25 away.

Build 232 on Friday was a sketch round:
Snapping onto a point now actually joins them
Dragging keeps up with the pointer
Trim shows what it removes
Inches read to four decimals
Break keeps the constraints on both halves
Small things, the kind that make a sketch fight you.
Then Merge into one solid. An imported LCD cover turned out to be 50 overlapping solids and 87 loose faces. Now it's one right-click.
Before it saves, Merge checks every piece survived. On a 908-solid part the fuse quietly lost 11 of them, so Merge refuses it and says why.
