Nevaeh couldn't bring herself to look in the mirror – she didn’t want to see a scar snaking around her head. “Losing her hair was the hardest part of this journey” said her mom. “When they first told her she needed brain surgery & that she’d lose most of her hair, she shut down."
Neveah has had years of ups & downs, of struggles & ultimately a triumph. But this moment, the loss of her hair, taught her a valuable lesson – being strong doesn’t mean you don’t break, or that you don’t have moments that crush you. Strength is found in picking yourself back up

Diagnosed with cancer on the first day of 8th grade, Bettirose started a journey she never imagined. Her wish to tell her story led her to write a novel – a young adult fantasy story, based on her battle with leukemia.
“There were moments when I lost motivation," Bettirose said. "But my hope is that this book provides kids that were sick like me a hero they can relate to.”
