This isn’t specific to music or indie artists. Directors have described casting around follower counts to get films greenlit. Podcasts often need a social following before brand deals come in. Content isn’t required to be an artist. It’s how all media is discovered and consumed.

Thank you for excusing me bro. They only recoup if they sell records. Meaning 95% of artists are tax write offs and they aren’t “recouping”. Unless you have a hit, recouping doesn’t exist.

You’re excused and technically the artist would be paying for their own studio time because recording costs would have to be recouped through the deal. I’m not asking the OG’s to give handouts, which is how you’re positioning it. I’m asking them to do business w/ the new artists.
