🇺🇸 This flag went to Vietnam with paratrooper Adam Cesario. Then it went to Iraq with his son.
In Vietnam, Cesario carried his own American flag and raised it every single day. Didn’t matter the situation. If he had to, he hung it off a radio antenna.
One mission went bad and he got cut off from his platoon. He spent three days alone in the jungle with Viet Cong after him, but he still raised the flag every day.
After the war, Cesario kept the flag carefully. Family members were rarely allowed to handle it.
When his son Alexander deployed to Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division, Adam entrusted him with the same flag. Alexander carried it on every mission, tucked into the front flap of his body armor, close to his heart.
The same flag that flew in the Vietnam jungle later made it to Baghdad.

I am not sure that many of you know this. If you repost something with the intent of helping that person; let’s use a shoutout as on example.
If you do not quote the shared shoutout it will never end up on the feed. Only original content is shown on the feed, or your page under the post tab.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be your original content, it can be a shared post, but you must quote the post.
Once it’s quoted, it now makes it original content; for you, it will then show up on the main feed.
If you just hit repost, the post is held under the repost tab, on your page. The only way someone can see that post that you reposted is to go to your page and click on the tab.
2 reasons to always quote a post. It helps the reach of the original content creator.
It helps you create content; in a sense; that helps you be seen on the feed. If enough people see your quoted posts and like them, it will in the end help with your reach.

It is quite insane, really. The entire world now arrays itself against the United States the moment we remember we have a right to self-determination. Borders. Continuity. The simple demand that this nation remain ours.
I have never witnessed anything like recent events. The Catholic Church hierarchy and the mullahs of Iran suddenly chanting the same refrain. The UN. The Pope. Most Western governments. All reciting the identical globalist Marxist filth in a propaganda symphony that would make Goebbels himself stand in silent awe.
The message is not subtle. It's delivered with the cold precision of those who actually run the world:

In 2028, I’m voting for the candidate who says they will use military force to remove Muslims from America so that we don’t have the same fate as Europe.

I’m a Marine. Not former, not ex, a Marine. I wanted to serve and protect my country and countrymen. But, looking back, I wanted to serve and protect my future grandchildren. This is my grandson at t/ball practice. He’s doing well but needs work on fielding ground balls.
I want him to grow up free and protected so that he can play t-ball.

There are a number of visual & spatial illusions you have to get over as a pilot.
The “Black Hole” effect is one. It’s visual & described below. A related effect is the “False Horizon”; sloping lights lead you to think you’re level but actually in a bank.
The Vestibular system is your inner ear; fluid inside moves around & affects balance. Acceleration of the jet moves the fluid & can have some nasty effects…
Rapidly going from a climb to level flight (pushing over) leaves a pilot feeling like they are tumbling backward. The instinctual reaction is to push the nose forward, putting you in a steep, fast dive.
In a bank, moving your head rapidly will cause the inner ear fluid to move & also create a tumbling sensation. This is a “Coriolis Illusion”.
Rapidly accelerating makes you feel like the jet is pitching up, which will make you want to push the nose down. To be fair, the jet will raise the nose is you rapidly accelerate, as it’s “trimmed” to maintain a constant speed, so you do have to adjust the pitch some. That’s a “Somatogravic Illusion”.
Finding a single point of light in the dark and staring at it too long produces “Autokinesis”, in which that point of light starts appearing to move. This is easy to do when staring at a single star. You’ll start thinking the jet must be moving…or it’s a UFO.
If you are in a prolonged bank, like flying in a circle, when you correct it you’ll often get “The Leans”. You feel like you are turning in the opposite direction, but you are actually level.
Kind of similar to the Leans, a prolonged turn can result in a “Graveyard Spiral” if exaggerated. The inner ear stops sensing the turn, you level out, think you are turning sharply the other way, so you go back into your original bank, except steeper. The jet starts losing altitude rapidly & you spiral all the way to the graveyard. This famously killed JFK Jr..
There are also forces you feel in your skin, muscles, etc., like “Gs”. We call this “Seat of the Pants Flying”, probably because the G’s either push you in the seat or pull you out of it. Flying Seat of the Pants is a terrible plan.
Anyway, even for very intelligent people who study this stuff, learning to fight these illusions is a challenge. You have to trust the instruments even when your body is screaming at you they are wrong. With time, you get pretty good at it. I rarely run into these anymore, but every once in a while one of them surprises me. I just look down & keep my eyes on the instruments for a little bit, then the world returns to normal.
At some airfields, before beginning the approach our briefing will include mention of things like the Black Hole & False Horizon effects. It’s a preparation for getting into these illusions, then reminding yourself “oh yeah, we knew this was going to happen”.
Anyway, as I said it’s not something that’s a significant threat at the airline level. On the low-time Cessna pilot level, though…it will kill you, and the airplane can be completely out of control in an astonishingly short period of time.
When normal feels wrong ‼️
Last night into an isolated airfield doing a non precision approach. RNP approach, simple approach light system on the landing side, nothing else lit nearby. Just a dark runway with edge lights. No centreline lights.
We briefed the black hole effect thoroughly. Still ended up four reds on the PAPI. 🔴🔴🔴🔴
Went around. 🛫
On the second approach, with the PAPI correctly showing two red and two white, I had to fight the strong feeling that I was high. I deliberately ignored that sensation and flew the lights. Safe landing. ⚪️⚪️🔴🔴
That’s the black hole effect in real life.
When there’s no visual texture around the runway no city lights, no approach lights stretching toward you, no centreline to give perspective your brain loses its distance cues.
The runway looks farther away than it actually is, so you unconsciously shallow the descent to “match” what you see.
You end up low, sometimes significantly even into the terrain. (CFIT)
The briefing doesn’t fully protect you. The illusion is perceptual, not intellectual. You can know exactly what’s happening and still get caught by it.
The second part is what surprised me most. After the first approach, my visual system had recalibrated to the darkness. So when I came back and the PAPI showed actually on profile, it constantly felt high. The correct picture looked wrong, the most dangerous part.
A few things that helped the second time:
• Treating the PAPI as primary guidance, not just a cross-check
• Consciously rejecting the “I feel high” sensation
• Being willing to go around again if the approach started slipping
Black hole approaches are sneaky. Even when you know them, they can still get you.
Fly safe.

Near Haaren, Germany, Sergeant Max Thompson of the 1st Infantry Division (Company K, 18th Infantry) single-handedly stopped a German breakthrough.
After a heavy artillery barrage, an enemy infantry battalion backed by tanks overran part of his company’s hill position. Thompson moved wounded to cover, then grabbed an abandoned machine gun and poured fire until a tank destroyed it. He seized an automatic rifle and kept fighting alone, halting the lead attackers. He then used a rocket launcher to knock out a light tank and advanced on pillboxes, forcing the enemy to abandon one despite being wounded.
