Bleacher Report Article [from 2008] "Over the last few weeks, there has been a lot of heated debate around Bleacher Report as to whether Kobe Bryant is the greatest player to ever play the game. While the media loves to compare every young star to Jordan, this guy is the [only] one even close to MJ. Some say he is better than Jordan, and some say he is already the greatest player ever. But when he finally hangs it up, he might very well be the best ever. He is the best player in the league today, the best closer as well. Why he hasn't won an MVP yet remains a BIG MYSTERY."

BREAKING: Michael Jordan’s game-worn 1998 NBA Finals Game 3 jersey just sold for $12.26 million, the all-time record. (Sold on @joopiteronline) Michael Jordan continues to be the king of basketball collectibles, and it’s not close. This is insane.

In 1986–87, Michael Jordan scored 3,041 points. Nearly 40 years later, nobody has even reached 3,000. The closest anyone came? Jordan himself the next season: 2,868. Kobe in 2006: 2,832. Harden in 2019: 2,818. To pass Jordan, you’d have to average more than 37 points for all 82 games. And while doing that, he also averaged 5.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 2.9 steals, and 1.5 blocks. Nearly four decades of extraordinary scorers have chased that season. They’re still chasing 23-year-old Michael Jordan. There are levels to this. 🐐

Kobe Bryant told the truth: “The rules of Michael Jordan’s era were tougher than those of LeBron’s era, and demanded a higher level of skill.” 🔥 “Today’s NBA is a finesse, small-ball game with extremely little physical contact. The flagrant-foul calls you see so often now make me sick. I prefer the old-school physical basketball I grew up watching. Back then you had to beat a defender with a hand on you (hand-checking), so you needed the skill to drive both ways, change direction, post up, and play in the mid-range. If you took it all the way to the rim, you could get knocked on your ass. That’s why the game required more skill then. Now you aren’t even allowed to touch anybody, so anyone can get to the basket easily. That’s why I think physicality should be brought back, including hand-checking. It would force players to develop real fundamentals and enough ball-handling to get past defenders. Compared with today’s NBA, European basketball is still more physical.” — Kobe Bryant 🐍 NBA fans around the world 100% agree with Kobe. Coming from someone who played under both sets of rules, those words are plain fact. Michael Jordan walked a far harsher path than the league LeBron played in, and set the greatest records in history. He is the true GOAT.

Charles Barkley doesn’t agree with the narrative LeBron is beating Father Time 👀 “We have to be honest about LeBron. Just because you’re putting up good numbers don’t mean you’re being affective. — People say he’s defying the odds but if my memory serves me correctly, he’s gotten swept in the playoffs the last couple of years. — LeBron is playing well but to say he’s beating Father Time, they got swept the last two years in the playoffs so don’t tell me how great he’s playing” (Via Bill Simmons podcast)

Michael Wilbon has been in basketball for decades…. He has seen Magic, Bird, Jordan, Kobe, Kareem, Shaq, LeBron, Durant and etc …. Michael Wilbon is known for not kissing ass and not being fake like other analysts aka Dick Wright … who kisses LeBron’s behind…. Wilbon is known for being a straight shooter, no fake stuff … Listen to what he says ….. “I gotta say LeBron James is better than Kobe Bryant?” “Whattttttttttt? Put me in a grave first” You guys understand LeBron James is no where near the basketball player Kobe Bryant was.. world of difference. Kobe was way better than LeBron, not even close.. Klutch sports can’t get everyone on their check books …. Some keep it real and Klutch gets really mad they can’t control Wilbon. LeBron isn’t even better than Magic or Kareem …. LeBron is the greatest #2 with Pippen
