The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation.
Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable.
But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual.
The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence.
We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria.
The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.

من هو معراج أورال الذي قبضت عليه اليوم الاستخبارات السورية؟
- ولد معراج أورال في أنطاكيا جنوب غرب تركيا لأسرة علوية عام 1956، لكنه يعرّف نفسه باعتباره عربيًا سوريًّا وعرف بعدها باسم "علي الكيالي" عندما حصل على الجنسية السورية من حافظ الأسد في ثمانينيات القرن العشرين
- بدأ أورال مشواره العسكري ضد الحكومة التركية في سبعينيات القرن الماضي، حين انضم لمنظمة يسارية شيوعية عرفت باسم "عاجلجيلر" (ومعناها المستعجلون) عرفت بدمويّتها وبأعمال العنف التي ارتكبتها
اعتقل عام 1978 على خلفية "أعمال إرهابية" اتهم بارتكابها في الأراضي التركية، منها السطو على أحد بنوك مدينة أضنة وتفجير السفارة الأميركية فيها وتنقل بين 12 سجنا تركيا، آخرها سجن أضنة المركزي.
- تمكّن أورال من الفرار بعد انقلاب الجنرال كنعان إيفرين عام 1980، بعدما رشا سجّانه، ليجد ملاذه في سوريا، حيث التحق بالجيش السوري تحت قيادة حافظ الأسد واختفت منظمته بعدها تماما.
- تزوج أورال من ملك فاضل سكرتيرة جميل الأسد شقيق حافظ الأسد وأسس في تلك الفترة مليشيا شاركت في معارك لبنان عام 1982 في بيروت والنبطية والجنوب.
- أدى أورال في تلك الفترة دور الوسيط بين النظام السوري وقائد حزب العمال الكردستاني عبد الله أوجلان، الذي عرف بقربه منه، ونشط آنذاك في تجارة وتهريب المخدرات من أفغانستان وصولا إلى أوروبا.
- مع انطلاق الثورة برز أورال بقيادته تنظيما مسلّحا من "الشبيحة" مواليا للنظام السوري أطلق عليه اسم "المقاومة السورية-الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير لواء إسكندرون" وعمد إلى تجنيد أبناء طائفته من محافظة هاتاي.
- خاض أورال وتنظيمه المعارك إلى جانب قوات النظام ضمن مليشيات الدفاع الوطني في مناطق سورية عدة، أبرزها حلب وإدلب (جسر الشغور) وريف اللاذقية
- تُوجِّه منظمات حقوقية اتهامات لأورال -وتسميه "جزار بانياس"- بارتكاب مجازر ترقى إلى جرائم حرب، خاصة في مناطق مثل بانياس ورأس النبع، إضافة إلى تورطه في جرائم ضد مدنيين سوريين وأتراك.
ومن الجرائم التي ارتكبتها مليشياته مجزرة مدينة الحولة في ريف حمص، التي وقعت في 25 مايو/أيار 2012، وأسفرت عن مقتل 111 مدنيا، غالبيتهم من النساء والأطفال.
- تورّطت مليشيا "الكيالي" في مجازر دموية أخرى، منها مجزرة حي البيضاء في مدينة بانياس في الثاني من مايو/أيار 2013 برفقة مفتي العلوية بدر غزال، وفيها أعدم المئات من المدنيين السنة العزل ذبحًا وحرقًا ورميًا بالرصاص، وبينهم أطفال ونساء.
- يتهم أيضا بالتخطيط لتفجيرات مدينة الريحانية التركية في 11 مايو/أيار من العام ذاته، والتي أسفرت عن سقوط عشرات الضحايا من السوريين والأتراك.
وأكدت الداخلية التركية أن السيارات المستخدمة في العملية هُرّبت من سوريا، واتهمت بالوقوف وراء العملية "أفرادا يتبعون منظمة إرهابية ماركسية على اتصال مع المخابرات السورية" جندّهم أورال
