Wrote some more about how we're using AI @_HouseofGiants We had a massive amount of HoG history to throw at our company brain. And the very AI brained thing to do would have been to shove all of it into the system and call that memory. I almost went that direction, because it feels productive. You have a folder full of old work, the agent can search it, and the dumb little voice in your head starts going, hell yeah, company brain. That wasn't the case 👇 xitter.cf/Magnificode/status/206…

I too have been exceptionally impressed with the quality of code coming out of Opus 5.5...
I know this happens every time, but it is genuinely hard for me to imagine what a model better than Opus 5.5 will look like

It's funny to see software you've used for a decade ship more updates in the past 6 months than they did in the previous nine and half years as they slow roll AI best practices into their teams.

Renaming AI to SI is almost as dumb as renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America...

This is pretty rad
Made a real-time presentation coach with Jev. It listens as you present, follows your slides and notes, and keeps track of what’s still left to say.

I feel like I'm being trolled every time I read about Jev.

What’s the saying? If you run into one asshole, they’re an ass hole. If everyone you run into is an asshole, you’re the asshole.
Founder advice: If you don't have a coup attempt every few years, you're not hiring strong enough leaders.

How fucking miserable is this going to be to develop for, holy shit.

These things are simultaneously cool and horrifying.

looking at all the stuff programmers have been building since AI unleashed them is a great reminder of why product people exist

Just sat down by this sick ass church that was built in 1550 and took 256 years to be completed so I can check on the clankers I tasked with all my work for the day. Normal Sunday.

I’ve felt this too, almost to my detriment. It feels like if you’re not constantly sending an agent out to do something you’re not being productive. Which feels dangerous in a field where we already had that whole like “if your job is also not your passion you’re not a real developer” conversation.
I used to listen to so many podcasts and books, filling in small amounts of time between different things that I'm doing. Now that time is filled by sending quick prompts to agents to get work done. As much as it feels productive to do that, my podcast list keeps growing and I kind of miss listening to those things. It's really hard to not prompt though.

I think we get lost in the existential aspect of all this AI shit a lot, which makes it hard to remember this. It's so much easier than it's ever been to produce more, good code. Build things you never had time to build. Experiment, and learn. As long as you put the effort into those things. We do live in fascinating times.
god I just love LLMs what a time to be alive you guys see me complaining but that’s because I post when I’m annoyed or concerned but it’s 99% sci fi joy otherwise I think we’re going to make it

This is a very good file manager.
This is Flea, the Omarchy-first file manager, and the fastest on Linux. Rust backend, frontend built entirely on Quickshell. Video showcase below. Enjoy. Expect tweets throughout the day showing its features.

Why the fuck is everyone screeching about not having "day 1 access" to Astra.... Just keep using 5.6 like you have been for a couple more days you lunatics.

My latest bit of resistance against Al induced brain atrophy: text-box-trim Fonts carry invisible space above their capital letters and below the baseline. That's why text can look off center in a button even when the padding is identical on every side. l've always fixed it with negative margins or slightly weird padding values. CSS can trim that extra space so the padding measures from the letters themselves. Useful little property.

I'll be in Germany next week for Startup Week Düsseldorf and Future Tech Fest. Any of you nerds have any good recommendations while I'm out there? Never been.
