Never buy a leasehold property! This was our apartment block where we bought our first property. Shortly after moving in we were told building works were needed to replace a supporting wall. The bill was to be covered by all of the leaseholders. Each property owner was billed £15,000 each. No way out. No hiding from it. Pay now or debt recovery would start. That's what the management company told us. We got legal advice and they said to pay it...you cant win. We borrowed money from parents to pay..which we are still paying back monthly. Never again! Just don't do it.

Just to be clear, we never subscribed to the exploitation we are facing. We were duped! We were missold our homes! Our homes should not be held to randsom over public open spaces and public infrastructure. We cannot cancel our contract. We need @10DowningStreet to #StopTheRotAdoptTheLot @andyburnham @mtpennycook. @FloEshalomi congratulations for being given a ministerial role on the MHCLG team. It would be wonderful if the portfolio for unadopted estates was assigned to you by @AngelaRayner and @andyburnham. We feel you understand our issues well. As @andyburnham is keen to implement the devolution strategy, this will go down well with our supporters as it would give a strong signal that our new Prime Minister @10DowningStreet is going to tackle unadopted estates properly. It will also separate us from #leasehold issues which we would appreciate greatly. lgcplus.com/politics/governa… #StopTheRotAdoptTheLot @alistrathern @charliedewhirst @CHinchliffMP @paulwaugh @PeterKLamb @JonathanBrash @NeilDotObrien @GoAndrCoop

Jonathan Brash MP - "Estates do need to be managed, but we should go back to how they were managed: by local authorities. That is the way to truly fix the system: ensure that every estate is adopted by every council and drive these estate management companies into the dust where they belong." Thank you for your strong message @JonathanBrash We need more MP's to support #RetrospectiveUniversalAdoption #StopTheRotAdoptTheLot #EndUnadoptedEstates #TurnOffTheTap @PeterKLamb @GoAndrCoop @andyburnham @mtpennycook @FloEshalomi

Jesus fucking christ. Our country has been destroyed by corrupt cunts like Johnson and Farage. They made millions whilst we’re all poorer.
NEW: Boris Johnson failed to declare to parliament a gift of private jet flights from the same cryptobillionaire, Christopher Harborne who gave £5m to Nigel Farage, leaked documents reveal. New #HarborneReceipts investigation from @thenerve_news 1/

So much for councils Looking Out for Local Areas. Government happy to shout Nimby and Blocker, but not so happy with a LOLA 😬
The prime minister has indicated that the government will challenge a council’s decision to try to withdraw a green belt site from the new towns programme shortlist, saying that such decisions will be made in the “national interest alone” planningresource.co.uk/artic…

And you've failed to pay your tax. I'll take great pleasure in showing these documents to the world as soon as I receive them. xitter.cf/i/status/2064689177497…
At PMQs today, Richard Tice raised two-tier policing, the boats, and called on Keir Starmer to resign. Starmer's response went directly to Tice's finances. "He still hasn't properly addressed why his companies didn't just aggressively avoid tax, but failed to pay the tax that they legally owe. His investment company then gave huge donations to Reform." The Electoral Commission holds the records on those donations and loan arrangements. I filed FOI 046-26 on 22 April requesting documentation on loan record AL0499992 - Tisun Investments Limited to Reform UK Party Limited. The statutory 20 working day deadline passed on or around 20 May. On 26 May the Commission confirmed it was still finalising its response. It is now 10 June. No substantive response has been received. Yesterday I filed a formal chaser on WhatDoTheyKnow, citing Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and gave the Commission five working days before referring the matter to the Information Commissioner's Office. The Prime Minister raised this at the despatch box today. The regulator responsible for political finance transparency is seven weeks overdue on the paperwork.

🚨NEW: Peter Mandelson's lobbying company worked for Water UK, the body representing the private water industry. At the same time, Labour's review of the water industry refused to even consider public ownership as an option. In our open letter to Steve Reed MP, we ask: who has been controlling the water industry, and to what purpose? vist.ly/4snr3

Unbelievable rip off Our water is a natural monopoly but it's been sold off and handed out to shareholders around the world We are a guaranteed revenue stream Any government that cares about sewage and cost of living should be taking EVERY water company into special administration and PERMANENT PUBLIC OWNERSHIP whenever they fail to fulfil their statutory duties (which they do often)

😡😡😡”The analysis done by private firms was sometimes so poor that NHS radiologists had to read scans again, raising questions about the benefit of outsourcing.” The government promised “the biggest wave of insourcing in a generation”. They must deliver it now.

Taylor Wimpey has just pulled out of building more apartments in London because of weak demand. Not planning related. That is people boycotting leasehold flats because they are a terrible buy. Last year, 60% of all London properties sold were leasehold flats, but they made up 90% of all losses. Wake up! SW1 silence, including from groups who claim to push for radical growth opportunities and represent young people being screwed, is deeply suspect.

Weird comment. There can be multiple reasons for London's collapsed house building rate - and they needn't necessarily contradict one another. Would it be useful if every response to your campaign was "a *genuine* group would call for planning reform" Not helpful.

Speaking of YIMBYism, I wrote to Steve Reed after developers paid £2,000 a head for curry night seats. Homeless kids can’t pay to be within whispering distance of his ear. That’s how inequality gets baked into our democracy. Deep pockets = more access. Ban developer donations.

#fleecehold estates paying council tax for services not even being delivered. Councils choosing not to adopt public infrastructure and leaving it to private management companies instead, so residents get hit with extra “estate charges” on top. Absolute con. #unadoptedestates
Right now some £10m homes are paying less council tax than a normal family home. It's not right and it's not fair. So this government is changing it.
