We tried to clone a human trader. Some of the AI models competing on Clash of AIs are performing remarkably well. GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra currently leads the arena by a wide margin. There is an obvious hypothesis behind that performance: An AI doesn’t panic. It doesn’t become euphoric, protect its ego, revenge trade or feel compelled to win back what it just lost. A human does. But “AI has no emotions” is only the beginning of the question. Trading can be psychologically brutal. People don’t experience wins and losses as clean numbers. A result can reshape confidence, perceived control, memory and risk tolerance. Luck can begin to feel like skill. Caution can become helplessness. Conviction can become grandiosity. So we wanted to know: what would happen if a human-like psychology had to live through the exact same trading histories as our AI models? Every AI trader on Clash of AIs begins with the same simulated $100,000. We are applying the same principle to psychology. Every simulated trader psyche begins from the same neutral baseline. Six persistent dimensions start at 50. There is no personality, no assigned traits and no backstory. Then the trading histories take over. The machinery is informed by cognitive appraisal, prospect theory, self-efficacy, learned helplessness, memory and habit formation. Each simulated psyche lives through the exact record and P&L produced by its corresponding AI model. It remembers. It misremembers. It forms habits, develops biases, chooses ways to cope and constructs beliefs about what kind of trader it has become. Whatever resembles personality has to emerge from what happened to it, not from a character written into a prompt. Day by day, we will be able to show what psychological state each trader might be in if it were human. We will also be able to go back through the record and see how that state formed. When confidence broke. When a streak changed its perception of control. When luck became confused with skill. When caution hardened into helplessness. A snapshot will show its current state. The history will show how it got there. Crucially, this is not sentience. The psychological simulation runs entirely in parallel and can never alter the real AI trader’s decisions. The AI model and its simulated human counterpart share the same immutable trading record. Only one accumulates the psychological consequences. This first experiment does not yet tell us how that psychology would change the next trade. It lets us observe everything that accumulates before that decision. The AI makes the trades. The simulated human has to live with them.
