More than 250 Jewish students at Columbia have signed this open letter. If you have 5 minutes today, take the time to read it. Because the sentiments it expresses are what the overwhelming majority of Jewish people feel. docs.google.com/document/u/1…

The new season of our 24-lecture Magnetic Resonance course for undergraduate chemists is now ready (youtube.com/watch?v=NUaJZ87k…). Mostly chalk and blackboard, but the first two lectures are PowerPoint because there's some history of physics to cover. All handout PDFs are in the usual place at spindynamics.org

Makes me feel shameful for anything I (choose to?) do manually
I keep on preaching to my lab about the usefulness @ChatGPTapp for coding, but real-life demos might be more effective. A thread on a neural network we quickly developed to classify antibiotics sensitivity 🧵 (1/10)

My heart is big. My heart can hold love for Israel, the homeland of the Jewish people. My heart feels the immense pain and horror the Israeli people are experiencing and I share that pain. My heart feels fear because of the anti-Semitism moving through this world with no end in sight. My heart feels rage for the lack of unanimous global support for a swift return of the hostages taken by Hamas, the terrorist organization terrorizing Israelis and Palestinians alike. My heart can hold all of this. Can yours?

It really has been a difficult weekend, and I'm not even physically in Israel...
Super insignificant in comparison to the atrocities but still i'll say it in case it helps colleagues: I too can't think of anything or escape horror thoughts so obviously it's impossible to work or get anything done. Don't feel guilty for neglecting work or commitments.
