It feels like no time has passed since Frank Peter Zimmermann and I first met and played together those many years (30+!) ago. What a special evening on Thursday in HK to join with him and the @hkphilharmonic for Elgar’s Violin Concerto.
Performed Elgar w/ Frank Peter Zimmermann and China Phil yesterday—an unforgettable concert. Nearly 30 years ago, he and I first played this concerto together as young men in Germany. Yesterday, we brought it back to life in China. What a journey it’s been.
After Émigré performances in Shanghai, New York and Berlin - we added Hong Kong to the list with a wonderfully successful performance with @hkphilharmonic, HK Phil Chorus, Lanzhou Concert Hall Choir and incredible cast. #émigré #aaronzigman

We’re having a great time #YMCG2024. This is the first year with new Music Director Daniel Harding. The faculty are all excellent and have been making a real difference for the young musicians. After concerts in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, tonight is their final concert in Hong Kong.
Our new @DGclassics recording of Émigré is available exclusively on @AppleMusic Classical this week - with full international release on all platforms on Friday, February 2nd. #Emigre #Émigré

This week we’ve launched into rehearsals for Aaron Zigman and Mark Campbell’s Émigré.
This major new oratorio has been co-commissioned with our friends @nyphil and we’re delighted to be giving the world premiere performance a week today here at Jaguar Shanghai Symphony Hall!
Over the past 3 days, I have had the privilege of collaborating with 5 young pianists for the opening of the new season of the China Philharmonic Orchestra. First time in the 23-year history of the orchestra that we have opened the season with a series of concerts.
I’m incredibly proud of these young artists who not only possess exceptional artistic talent but also a genuine passion for classical music. They are the future. These days filled me with great joy & pride. I look forward to the @ShanghaiSO season opening next week!
