ECC10 Antwerp was a remarkable event at the unique congress centre ‘A Room with a ZOO’.
Thanks to the organizing and scientific committee to make this happen and to all the speakers and poster presenters for their excellent contributions! @EuChemS_Congres
Nice to have Prof. Hui Wu from East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai visiting our lab. His work on metabolic engineering and synthetic biology to manipulate microbial systems to synthesize platform chemicals from renewable C2 feedstocks is really impressive!
Thank you for your interesting lecture on the “Uniqueness of Allyl Boronic Acids in Asymmetric Allylation of Imines” Prof. M. S. Maji. @modhumaji Wishing you a safe and pleasant trip back to India.
We are delighted to share that our supervisor Prof. Maes has been named one of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Outstanding Reviewers for 2025 (Organic Chemistry Frontiers). This recognition highlights exceptional contributions to peer review and chemical research.

Prof. Luigi Vaccaro (University of Perugia, Italy) delivered an interesting lecture on 'Green Shades in Organic Synthesis and Catalysis ' @ORSY. Thank you, Prof. Vaccaro, for an inspiring session on advancing green chemistry!
We are excited to welcome Dr. David Vesseur to ORSY! 🎉
David completed his PhD at Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France), followed by a postdoctoral position at the University of Amsterdam in collaboration with @BASF . He now begins his scientific journey in the Maes group.
Our joint work on mechanochemical carboxylation of catechol requiring low temperature and CO2 pressure, enabling the synthesis of renewable plasticizers is now online @angew_chem as a Hot Paper! Congrats to all the authors! Read full paper: doi.org/10.1002/anie.2025198…
Excited to share our Chem. Soc. Rev. paper on greener-by-design fine chemicals! 🌱🌱
A joint effort by Italian, German, British, Slovenian & Belgian teams. Congrats to PhD student Jonas Wuyts (ORSY) & all co-authors! pubs.rsc.org/en/content/arti…

Last Friday Prof. Weckhuysen organized a hands-on assignment where students worked in teams to come up with ideas to make rubber, kerosene, styrene and SAF from renewable resources, trying to convince the 'investors' to give money 😊! A truly inspiring and motivating experience.
In between the Francqui lectures, we had an interesting event yesterday bringing young researchers from Utrecht and Antwerp together. 9 PhD and Post Doc presented their research on sustainable chemistry. A very inspiring program!
Thanks to the two Berts for making this happen.
