Here's a summary of the new guidelines Nintendo has released for any tournaments using their IP: • These are guidelines for non-profit, small-scale community tournaments using Nintendo games. • Individuals can be organizers, and individuals or non-profit teams can be participants. • There are limits of 300 participants online and 200 offline. • There are restrictions on entry fees, spectator fees, and prizes. • Nintendo IP cannot be used in tournament names, promotions, or venue decorations. • Approval is needed for for-profit tournaments or those above certain sizes. • Failure to follow the guidelines may result in requests to cancel tournaments. [end of summary] This further solidifies how the competitive community needs to completely divorce itself from cooperating with Nintendo. These limitations are arbitrarily restrictive and silly. Until Nintendo radically changes its orientation towards the competitive scene, it makes 0 sense to work with them.
