ALT DevFest WI is an annual conference on inclusivity in tech held in Madison, WI. This year's conference will be held Thursday, Aug. 22nd at the UW Memorial Union, and we want YOU to be a speaker! We are seeking presentations on a broad range of topics related to inclusivity; we are particularly interested in talks on topics that you, the speaker, are excited about, and that can be understood and appreciated by non-specialists.

ALT Language does more than you think it does. Join Samantha Beaver and Women in Tech for an exciting evening of linguistic exploration: learn to reframe language as a technology, leverage language samples as business-critical data, and understand your own self as being indexed by the language you use. Both theoretical and practical, this talk is a great opportunity to dive deep into a fascinating topic - with a real linguist - that too often goes under-examined in the workplace.

ALT NOTE: We're co-hosting this panel with a variety of other organizations; to register, please visit https://www.witwisconsin.com/event-5566250/Registration. Thanks! Madison Women in Tech, Women in Technology Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Games Alliance are hosting a virtual panel for high school students, college students, and young professionals, about women and careers in the video game industry. We've joined forces to bring experts from multiple gaming leaders in our industry. If you’re curious about how to get into gaming, are a parent of a gamer, or want to better understand career opportunities in gaming, we'd love to have you join this free event.

ALT our members. ❤️ Madison Women in Tech is excited to co-host this hybrid panel with the UW Google Developer Student Club and ColorStack! Many of us from underrepresented communities struggle at one time or another with imposter syndrome, or feeling like we don't belong - especially in the tech industry. If so, you're not alone! Join us for this panel on how to deal with the challenges that can arise from feeling like an imposter, especially if you're transitioning to the workplace from university, or switching to tech from a different field.

ALT Join us for a moderated, interactive discussion about those times we find ourselves to to be the only one like us in the room: "Despite the rise of women and enbies in tech, many of us are still the only ones in the room. Let's come together and talk about it. Being the only woman or enby, or only anything, in a room is an isolating experience that changes how we are able to show up. This community discussion creates space to consider both who we have to be in professional spaces and who we want to be in an ideal situation. We'll discuss strategies to improve your network both inside and outside immediate work spaces with a focus on creating intentional connections that center individual experiences."

ALT We're excited to host this event at @shopbop , an Amazon subsidiary and global online retailer providing hand-curated assortments of clothing and accessories. Light charcuterie, hummus, veggies, and drinks will be provided. All genders are welcome at this event. ❤️ A note that all attendees are required to sign an NDA upon arrival at the venue.

ALT Dress however makes you feel festive, and let's share a drink (either boozy or N/A) and socialize as we head into the winter season. All genders are welcome at this event; feel free to bring friends, coworkers or partners! We'll provide light catered snacks; beverages will be available for purchase. We've reserved the Green Room at the @rigbypub , so come upstairs and hang out! 💖
