Vladimir Putin’s nuclear threats remind us that we are just one accident or bad decision away from disaster. As long as nuclear weapons exist, we are not safe from them. Together, we can build a safer world without nuclear weapons. Join us at @UCSUSA

I folded a paper crane to honor the anniversaries of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Sadako Sasaki, and all the children impacted by conflicts they didn’t create. Every child deserves to live free of the threat of nuclear weapons. #CranesForOurFuture

As we commemorate the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing, let’s honor the voices of those who survived and ensure such tragedies are never repeated (🧵)

Thank you @JonStewart for advocating for veterans! Radiation-exposed vets and civilians are also fighting for help but @SpeakerMikeJohnson has ignored the pleas of survivors who, like K2 vets, have been fighting for decades to get help they deserve. #RECA
K2 vets stationed on base w 40,000 times the radiation of normal ground. 40,000 times. Yet the DOD and VA continue to dispute exposure…great article by Tara Copp and a huge thank you to @C__Herridge for her outstanding reporting and determination to keep this story alive!

I'm so grateful that young folks like Rishi Gurudevan are speaking out about the importance of younger generations to the nuclear disarmament movement. I agree that, "Only through intergenerational collaboration will humanity be spared." @BackfromBrink thebulletin.org/2024/04/gen-…

The Doomsday Clock is set at 90 seconds to midnight, the closest it’s ever been. We are inching dangerously closer to a nuclear catastrophe and must do everything we can to reduce the risk of nuclear war. It’s time to stop this arms race, re-enter arms control agreements, and ensure diplomacy and statesmanship prevails.

It is infuriating and unjust that some in St. Louis have cancer and other illnesses because of uranium processing. @SpeakerJohnson, please help and strengthen and reauthorize the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act to the floor for a vote immediately. nytimes.com/2024/04/06/us/po…

Today, the Oppenheimer biopic premieres for the first time in Japan. The Japanese public was interested when Oppenheimer himself visited in 1960. What do modern-day audiences think of the film? Read more from @gkucs: bit.ly/3xh7tnO

I was grateful to watch the Senate pass the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act yesterday. We are one step closer to the justice for more communities who were poisoned by their own government's nuclear weapons complex. Next step - pass RECA in the House! ucsusa.org/about/news/senate…

Putin's warnings are a reminder about the ongoing risk of nuclear escalation over #Russia's war in #Urakine. Last year, over 1,000 scientists issued a statement organized by @PhysCoalition which condemned "all threats to use of nuclear weapons." physicistscoalition.org/scie…
