We spend so much cash on games - a hyper-luxury. What if we set aside just a little of that highly-disposable income to helping those most urgently in need?

It's the least we can do.

Hear me out! I'm absolutely in love with Harold Halibut and for me it's the most beautiful and heartfelt game of the year. These amazing characters have become my second family. I have cried and rejoiced with them. Every now and then I go back there to feel better

I thought veganism was extreme until I learned what happens to animals.
Artificial insemination, confinement, and slaughter aren’t exactly mild practices. Wanting to avoid that isn’t extreme, it’s actually the most normal thing in the world once you see it clearly.

Can't decide if '"We believe there's a broad base of RPG gamers who feel they aren't being catered to anymore. They want a classic, traditional, timeless fantasy... rather than being told what to think about the story and characters." is a massive dog-whistle or not.

Ex-Lead writer of Quantic's Star Wars is starting a new studio to make a game that sounds... exactly like Star Wars.
Interesting article! Lots of good points. However I think it somewhat neglects to reinforce a particularly important note: we should not give a single fuck about internet morons. The issue for any decent human is not 'politics or not' but 'are the politics written well?'
Metaphor: ReFantazio's success is further proof that politics are good in videogames, actually—no matter what reactionaries tell you. trib.al/YkTMLdw

Oxford scientists found that even the least sustainable plant-based diet was still more environmentally friendly than the most sustainable meat eater's diet - backing up decades of research saying the exact same thing.

Why is that review number not at least double? One of the best JRPGs ever made and it hasn't even broken 10k reviews yet. Hopefully a vast number of people are playing it on console but still.

The way that reviews/reactions overall have approached the Veilguard writing style has been really interesting. On average it feels like they've not been able to pin-point the issues at stake, whatever they feel about them. A few have correctly identified it as a 'tone' issue...
Tl;dr, tone is not equal to writing quality. Any decent piece of writing will take you through a variety of emotions, and tonality. You can't claim the writing of an entire game is 'cringe' because of the occasional, deliberate moment of levity or heartfelt sincerity...
