Our brilliant history teacher, Brian Donoghue died this week. He taught us about the 9 year war, peasant uprising, 1790s, particularly in our home area South Tyrone/North Armagh. We learned about historical sectarian strife while we were living through it. It was our normal 1/3

it worked in the United States. It worked with the Irish in Britain (though not without significant warnings that they would never be assimilable). By large it works here.

ITMA is deeply saddened by the death of the iconic uilleann piper Paddy Keenan. Born into a travelling family, Paddy was a founding member of the legendary group The Bothy Band and his virtuosity on the pipes made him one of the most celebrated traditional musicians of all time.

Feb 25 JNLR came as @RTERadio1 contemplated changing its schedule. It gave
@olivercallan 9/11 349k listeners
Claire Byrne 10/12 349k
@louiseduffyshow 12/1 228k This was a very strong book. The Callan numbers were exceptional.
It would take real conviction to change that schedule . RTΓ began its most comprehensive audience research in years to underpin those decisions - which apparently told them the audience wanted 4 hours back to back current affairs - Morning Ireland followed by McCullagh.
Claireβs replacement was obvious, fearless, tried and tested in the slot @SarahAMcInerney relying on the production DNA that had always driven listenership.
When @RTERadio1 began its market research it didnβt have a problem with this schedule - it managed to create one.
