A recent conversation reminded me how important it is to have a growth mindset rather than a victim mentality. I was reminded that, yes, I wish my parents would apologize for the damage they've done, but that wouldn't fix it. I will always be responsible for my own healing.

We live in a society where empathy is conditional. People mourn for the people they like and justify the death of people they don't. Differences in political opinion don't deserve a bullet. Disagreement doesn't justify murder.
