Really impressed with how this turned out. Amazing design and thoughtful planning process by @guildservices and @DakotaCountyMN. Proudly voted yes when this came before planning commission during my time in 2022.

Today we celebrated the grand opening of the Dakota County Crisis & Recovery Center! We're proud to have this critical resource, a partnership between Dakota County Government and Guild Services, in West St. Paul, and look forward to the impact it will have for so many!
A good reminder that the Met Council designated WSP as an "urban center." This meant that our 2040 comp plan was required to have areas guided for additional housing units. This area is guided as mixed use which allows for 20-40 units per acre.
Proposed apartment showcases the differences between private vs. public redevelopment and how little control the city actually has:

Also of note is that our 2040 comp plan is not just a single person's opinion or preferences. It was put together following years of public input, surveys, consultant and staff work, open houses, public hearings, work sessions and finally, city council and Met Council approval.

I am proud I was able support and vote YES on this much needed and incredibly thoughtful project by Dakota County and Guild in WSP. In my 9 years on planning commission, I have heard a lot during public comments. But for the first time, I left a meeting disheartened:
A proposed a mental health crisis and recovery center is planned for West St. Paul, though neighbors raise concerns about safety and lack of public notice.
