Your "democracy" is a children's fairy tale you tell yourself to make the world more palatable - it is men with guns that enforce and implement decisions, and it is men with guns that will escort you into a police car, a courtroom or a prison if you choose not to obey whatever instruction you have received. Your "theocracy" is a lie because God has no power to make you do anything without the men with guns making you carry out his will. Every type of human society is held together by men with guns. A good society is one where the interests of the men with guns align with those of the people without guns, and a bad society is one where the men with guns live parasitically off the people without guns. ALL societies are dictatorships of men who control the guns. Some just include a whole lot of extra steps to obfuscate that basic fact.
