Areas of the north Delta corn crop were due after being wrecked by greensnap last year, and it definitely came through.
This outstanding hybrid plot was grown with irrigation by David Taylor near Sledge.

It is a bit ironic that our most productive plots were often in dryland fields. Excessive moisture can be stressful also.

Dryland corn produced well in central Mississippi this summer.
These corn hybrid plots were grown near Edwards by Danny Mashburn, and at the Brown Loam Experiment Station by Tyler Soignier.

Corn yields were tested at two planting rates in this dryland plot. Hybrids were grown at 30K and 36K per acre.
Although rain was plentiful in June, drought stress stepped up late.

This is definitely going to be the year we find out just how much water is too much. These two fields are just across the road from each other, yet show two very different stories. We’re seeing a lot of low spots with drowned-out pockets in fields across Illinois today, as well as wind damage in corn. This is McLean County, IL. #pftour26
