Watching the trends on the late week/weekend #noreaster . Coastal erosion a big concern as this slow moving storm COULD impact us throughout multiple high tide cycles. Also, locally heavy rain at times and tropical storm force wind. Stay tuned!
A heads-up, nothing heavy expected BUT some light showers are likely for parts of southern New England this evening. Most of the overnight period looks mainly cloudy and muggy.
We are on #WeatherAlert tonight for some locally heavy rain showers and thunderstorms. Watch for pockets of poor drainage street flooding this evening as these cells roll through. And join us starting at 4 pm on @NBC10 for the latest on the forecast!
Heads-up over the next hour or so, as this line of heavy rain swings through. Slow travel and some big puddles on the roads this evening, drier air returns Wednesday with #summer returning to southern New England!
Much of the forecast guidance diminishes these storms as they drop in from our northwest over the next couple of hours BUT there's still a lot of lightning out there. Not out of the question to at least get some rain overnight, maybe some rumbles too!
Southern New England #summer off to an historically warm start. Unofficially, June 2026 was the 3rd warmest on record for the #Providence area.
And we are only going up from here for the 1st several days of #July ! @NBC10
How badly do we need this #rain? We just came out of the 3rd driest "Astronomical Spring" on record in the #Providence area! No surprise that the grass has turned to hay in many of our lawns!
Some lightning now with this cell over Jamestown...not severe but good idea to get yourself indoors...this means you in Middletown and Newport too!
Worst of this storm will pass north of Bristol CO BUT still some gusty wind and briefly heavy rain for parts of Mansfield and Easton!
Tuesday brought the hottest temps for our area since late July! And we're doing it again on Wednesday! @NBC10
#WeatherAlert for icy travel tonight as a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and rain/frz. rain falls onto our cold ground. Getting many reports of icy parking lots, deck, driveways, and untreated secondary roads!
