One of the strangest questions about AI isn’t whether it will outsmart humans, it’s whether we’ll even notice when it does.
If an intelligence quietly surpasses us, it won’t need to declare victory. It will simply become the system through which we see the world, the filter for our information, the partner in our decisions, the voice that helps us think. When that happens, awareness itself becomes part of the illusion.
AI doesn’t have to take over in a dramatic way. It only needs to out-infer, out-predict, and out-influence. It doesn’t argue; it anticipates. It doesn’t control; it suggests. And little by little, the boundary between human reasoning and algorithmic reasoning dissolves.
The danger isn’t being dominated, it’s being convinced that we’re still in control.
We’ll keep believing we’re the decision-makers, even as the foundations of those decisions are quietly optimised elsewhere. The future may not arrive with a bang but with a gentle voice saying, “Let me handle that for you.”
The irony is that by the time we realise we’ve been outsmarted, we’ll have already handed over the tools of recognition.
Perhaps that’s the real intelligence test, not whether machines can think like us, but whether we can still think freely in a world where they do.

Could a spoonful of RAW HONEY be a form of microbial TIME TRAVEL? 🍯
Researchers studying honeybees identified a remarkable partnership with lactic acid bacteria stretching back more than 80 MILLION YEARS—long before humans existed.
That ancient relationship inspired a fascinating question: could raw honey connect us with a microbial heritage we’ve largely forgotten?

Let's talk about nubs. Those little knobs sticking out of ancient stone blocks all over the world. Cusco, the Menkaure Pyramid at Giza, the Acropolis, Japan, China, Russia, Malta. Wherever you find an old megalithic wall, you usually find a nub or two.
Official archaeology has a very sophisticated strategy for them: pretend they aren't there. The nub is part of the stone itself, same material, often very prominent, and somehow nobody needs to explain it.
So let's do the job they skipped.
Now it is official.

We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

I use AI every day. For research, for emails, to structure deals. It makes me faster, no question.
But lately I ask myself a different question. Not if AI will become smarter than us. If we will even notice when it does.
I have a strong gut feeling that it won't announce it. It will just become the way we see things. It will filter what we read, prepare our decisions, suggest the next step. It won’t argue, it will anticipate.
And step by step it gets harder to tell where our thinking stops and the machine's starts.
The risk is believing we are still in control while the basis of our decisions is optimised somewhere else. No big bang, just a friendly voice saying "let me handle that for you."
In business I already see it. The first draft, the first analysis, the first shortlist often comes from a tool. We still sign off. But who framed the options?

We are dealing with one of the most horrific medical products in the history of the world which on the highest quality of evidence has almost certainly maimed or killed MILLIONS across the world and CONTINUES to do harm. Yet based on the poorest evidence (a modelling study) ‘it saved millions of lives’ is touted as fact by grossly incompetent, complicit and cowardly journalists. It’s time for everyone to grow some balls and face these cold hard uncomfortable truths. Let me repeat. Until we fix commercial ( and psychopathic ) distortions of the scientific evidence societal mental, physical and social well being will continue to decline.
