As a co-organizer at @AkdenizUniv, I’m proud to share that the Final Conference (22–23 Jan 2026, Antalya) successfully marked the completion of the Horizon Europe GAPs project—alongside @zeynepmencutek (BICC), @SBarthoma (@uppsalauni ), and @SusanRottmann (@ozyeginuni ).
Building on fieldwork in 30+ countries, we explored how migrant return is experienced, negotiated, delayed, or refused. 79 papers | 12 panels | 2 keynotes by Anna Triandafyllidou and Linda Adhiambo Oucho brought together scholars, policymakers & civil society.
Grateful to all participants and to the Faculty of Letters at @Akdenizun , especially Dean Nurşen Adak, for the warm hosting.

✨ A proud milestone!
We just wrapped up the closing workshop of our 30-month TÜBİTAK project on the recruitment and retention of international academics in Turkey @odtu , bringing together academics and policymakers for a rich exchange of ideas.
I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to work with such an inspiring research team as @MeteKurtoglu Dila Eylül Semiz Ahmet Ekren @kurtaybensu @ArmaganErdo @SusanRottmann Cetin Celik Antoine Dolcerocca, and for the insightful findings and discussions that came out.
Any social scientist looking for a great postdoc opportunity, don't miss this opportunity to apply to work with my wonderful dear friend and colleague @SusanRottmann on an exciting project MENBELONG on single migrant men’s belonging across 5 countries 🌎: ozyegin.edu.tr/en/announceme…

Happening now at #imiscoe2025! A fascinating session reflecting on Data, Access, Politics in Coerced Return Migration in the Global South by @GapsReturns scholars @zeynepmencutek @SBarthoma @elagokalparas @bahadirdincer @MSNIMER , Marieke van Houte, Nora Stel
It was a real pleasure to co-organize and discuss “Reflexivity in the Study of Mobility, Positionality, and the Political Economy of Knowledge Production” (with @IvaDodevska ) at the @IMISCOE Research Network Annual Conference today.
We had a full room and a rich discussion with contributions from Aminath Nisha Zadhy, Deniz Yükseker @LauraStielike @PhiSchaefer @JaninaPescinski, @Wegahta B. Sereke Kerstin Martel . This special session was held under the umbrella of the @reflex_studies.
💪Proud to be part of "Reflexivity as Critique? A Conversation on the Politics of Knowledge Production in Migration Studies"—a critical dialogue on ethics, positionality & power in our field.

Great to share insights & get feedback on our multi-country report on What do migrants really think about return? as part of @GapsReturns with @SusanRottmann
🗣️ What do migrants really think about return?
On March 21, 2025, the @GapsReturns WP7 team—led by @SusanRottmann & @MSNIMER—held an online workshop bringing together researchers & migrant organizations to discuss key findings on migrants’ voices on return.
Glad to be part of this GAPs dossier bringing together key analyses on the politics, policies & lived realities shaping Syria return dynamics.
