Despite that win at the polls, certain abortion restrictions remained on the books, impeding and humiliating patients seeking care. We filed this case on behalf of @NFPCenters and @MSFC to put an end to this—and in June, a court temporarily struck down these restrictions.

52 years ago, the landmark Roe v. Wade decision recognized Americans’ right to abortion. In 2022, that decision was overturned to devastating effect. But that is not the end of the story.
We will keep up this fight—because we must, and because IT IS WORTH IT.

Pregnant bodies don't follow legal timelines. Whether lawmakers draw a line at 6 weeks or 24 weeks ― they’re denying necessary care.
We must protect access to abortions later in pregnancy.
Here’s why [ a thread 🧵] #AbortionWithoutLimits

Abortion bans at any point in time make pregnancy more dangerous.
Some politicians suggest a legal limit on abortion is a "compromise." But when someone needs care, there is no compromise. You can either get the health care you need or not.

Thank you, @MIAttyGen for your continued commitment to protecting Michiganders’ reproductive freedom.
And thank you to @ReproRights, @NFPCenters, and @MSFC for taking action against these unconstitutional, medically unnecessary restrictions to abortion access. 🫶

ALT Graphic of faces in a crowd Quote from AG Nessel: “Michigan voters spoke loud and clear when they voted to enshrine reproductive freedom into Michigan’s constitution. It is only right that the Court issues this preliminary injunction in accordance with the protections now in place following the recent enactment of Proposal 3. I remain steadfast in my commitment to ensuring that the women of Michigan receive the healthcare services, and reproductive health freedoms, they need.”
