A moving reply to those who ask why the poor don't eat better. It couldn't be said better.
A most brilliant blog. If you find time, have a read "Ignorance is a choice" @BootstrapCook on privilege and patronisation about diets @DrSdeG @trishgreenhalgh @felly500 @MariaLeveridge @drmarkporter @MichaelMarmot @kamleshkhunti cookingonabootstrap.com/2020…

‘There’ll be lots of travel agents and no holidays’ has to be the best description of the what forgetting to properly invest in the voluntary sector to support social Prescribing will lead to. Link workers are only part of the solution. 👍
Replying to @markdavis275
'there'll be lots of travel agents and no holidays'. Social prescribing has a good evidence base, we know link workers are the glue that holds things together, but discussion needs to appropriately cover the other bits of the jigsaw too.

Mole, saying it exactly.
We have design guides up the wahooda. What we need is a system that empowers local authorities to make decisions, backed with finance to develop and employ. The empowerment rests with those who pay. No design guide will make good places for people if the prime motive is profit.

I urge anyone who has a beating heart to read this thread by my dear friend Rajesh. This is England. Face up to it. In one thread this is the nation right now!

We’ve worked hard on said ‘fantastic’ plan for an area with some of the worst health outcomes in the country. What we need is a firm and full financial commitment from govt to get it done.

Seriously tired of saying this. Racism is not an opinion, we should not treat it as such. Furthermore, getting this wrong places a disproportionate unacceptable burden on people of colour. This is a grave mistake by the @bbc . Full solidarity w @BBCNaga theguardian.com/media/2019/s…

Love this Andrew! But this measure is not just useless. Starting from this biased perspective inevitably leads economists to recommend cutting “entitlements” rather than investing in ability of older people. The dependency is the addiction of economists to a misleading measure
UK Old Age Dependency Ratio expected to rise by 50% next 25 years. On so many levels a useless indicator. Its TRIPLED since 1891 but am unaware any study shows tats been a problem. So many other variables shift, a few of which reflected in this ONS tool buff.ly/2khgIiq

A CTP creates a wide range of shared benefits by enabling specific people in a particular place to realise opportunities that they were unable to do before. It increases the capabilities of both individuals and groups working in partnership.
