Dog Callout 27th August 2023. 3 of the teams dog handlers travelled to Doncaster to assist @syptweet @woodheadrescue and @York_SAR in a search for a missing person. Search dogs Hope, Dottie, Bolt and Ebba all lent a paw to the search effort. @MRSearchDogsEng @MountainResqUK

Bodies eye view of being eaten alive by clouds of midges, waiting for our dogs to find them. We are so grateful to our amazing dogsbodies.

An evening spent on the bed of the old Bar Brook reservoir getting savaged by midge whilst waiting for the tinkle of the collar bell of an approaching @MRSearchDogsEng search dog. Pint of @BradfieldBrew Farmers and a packet of beef @Piperscrisps in lieu of piriton afterwards 😉🍺

DOG FIND. Operational callout 80 for our volunteer handlers in 2023. Search Dog Wren of @Buxton_MRT found an elderly gentleman who got lost on open moorland and drifted into a deep gully before running out of energy and calling for help. 1/2

Wren and her handler found him sat down in the gully tired and unable to get out. After the gentleman had eaten some emergency flapjack (and sneakily shared some with Wren), he managed with help to climb out of the gully and make his way across the moor to the team vehicle. 2/2

That’s nowt !!! you wanna try being a ‘dogsbody’ volunteer at @MRSearchDogsEng training in the Summer 😳😳😳 - bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-h…

Would you volunteer for eight hours of midge bites?

A firm that makes insect repellent is seeking candidates to find out how effective their product is.

There has been a heroic effort during Storm Antoni by our volunteer dogsbodies today, hiding on Dartmoor for our dogs to find. This is Search Dog Wren finding Body Dave on Beardown Tor, during a beautiful Dartmoor summers daay.

The bodies have been amazing today, we are so grateful to them for coming out. Wren smelt Body Dave from the other side of the hill in this strong wind, this is the end of the indication sequence as she brought the handler in. #StormAntoni

Training, fundraising and operations continue for our dogs and volunteers, even if we are a bit busy with work and families to post here as often as we would like. Here are a few photos of our dogs training over the past couple of weeks.

Sad news about retired Search Dog Poppy. Search Dog Poppy graded in 2012 and enjoyed a long and busy working life. She retired in 2020 as one of the oldest search dogs in MRSDE. She attended countless callouts and always had energy when to play with her human brother and sister.

Poppy joined her fellow search dogs by the fireside in the sky last week. Her handler James and family will miss her but are thankful for all the work she did and joy she brought to their lives. Sleep tight Poppy Dog. Search dog Poppy, OUT.

In 2021 it was Race to the Castle 100km for Search and Rescue, then Race to the Tower double trail marathon for SRSB in 2022. This year I am again fundraising for my beloved Mountain Rescue Search Dogs. I am 51 … this is hard … can you help me?"

Last but not least for #nationalvolunteerweek2023 ‘John Coombs, been in the team more than 30 years and a dog handler since 1990. I like being in the team because there are no better friends than here in Mountain Rescue’.
