I am relieved the Bill has fallen. I was, and am, neutral on the principle of assisted death. But this was a bad bill, at an awful time. I will gladly work with colleagues to think about what a better bill might look like, that takes on board the serious concerns of expert groups. In the meantime, let’s focus on improving palliative care, fixing gaps and reducing inequalities.
