Rowley attempts to appear tough but cannot continue putting a public relations plaster on a crime problem that requires holistic plans with measurable objectives. The use of selective fake outrage for public relations will not lessen the violent crime crisis.

Many experts, individuals, and entities want to contribute to the anti-crime fight. I urge Keith Rowley to put aside his fears, reconsider his refusal to attend the crime talks, and include all willing stakeholders to increase the expertise available to the Government.

Accepting help in the anti-crime fight should not be viewed as a weakness; humility and cooperativeness are signs of confidence and strength. No citizen in our country wants to see a continuation of the violent crime crisis.

It will not be the first time that when a PNM Government falls, the UNC has to fix it. We have done so in the past and are ready now again.

I say to the good people of Trinidad and Tobago, never be disheartened, what is done in the darkness will come to light.

When you sit in a Cabinet which makes decisions to punish the very people who put you there, you have broken the essential social contract- to do all that can be done to make our country a better place.

In Trinidad and Tobago, democracy and justice will always prevail against the forces of oppression.

As I wrap up my contribution, I again restate that this budget is a declaration of war on the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. But this is a war that they will lose because the people of Trinidad and Tobago have declared war on the PNM.

Today, as always, we stand ready with a plan to rebuild our economy and restore stability. We did it before, and we are ready to get the job done. Unlike this PNM Government whose only idea is to tax, tax, tax, we have practical solutions for revenue generation.

What is not surprising is that this PNM in their quest to Rowleymander and deny the will of the people of Tobago they have now called another election in Tobago. The second in one year.

This is ironic given that the Debe South Electoral District within the PDRC has been vacant for seven months now. So, two elections in Tobago in one year but none in Debe South after 7 months without an elected representative.

What is amazing is the Ministry of Digital Transformation doesn’t even have a website!

The Rowley PNM government’s Housing policy has been nothing short of atrocious. The policy confusion has been acute. The lack of implementation pathetic. And the suffering of the most vulnerable distressing. But elections have consequences!

Thousands of children continue to struggle to use their parents’ cell phone to access their online classes. Thousands more simply have no access to devices and have to depend on photocopied work.

So, you can imagine my shock to discover that last year, while our children suffered, this Minister of Education did not spend 4.7 million dollars allocated for the purpose of acquiring and distribution of laptops and tablets. That could have purchased almost 10,000 devices.
