We are glad to announce our newest work, "Nanoscale Strain and Octahedral Tilting Removes Structural and Nonradiative Defects in 2D-Templated FAPbI3" in collaboration with Prof. David Fenning is now live in ACS Nano Letters
pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…
This compression creates locally templated regions composed of tetragonal-phase FAPbI3 distributed nonuniformly throughout the film with fewer crystalline defects than purely cubic regions. This technique provides an indepth understanding of the 2D templating for FAPbI3

Rice research featured on the cover of today's issue of Science shows new possibilities in solar energy. Aditya Mohite and collaborators created new chemical formulations for perovskite photovoltaics, which could transform solar panel manufacturing. bit.ly/4c1LEYW

Researchers in Science present a design strategy for fabricating ultrastable phase-pure films of formamidinium lead iodide by lattice templating using specific two-dimensional perovskites with FA as the cage cation.

The news doesn't stop there! WE ALSO MADE THE COVER OF SCIENCE!
In the cover, we try to show how the 2D perovskites template the 3D perovskite layer and the Lead Iodine Octahedra, "their 2D template leader," growing a stable FAPbI3 film

ALT Cover of the Science Magazine June 14, 2024: Cover shows an image of the lattice-matched two-dimensional (2D) perovskite BA2FAPb2I7 (red)—where BA is butylammonium and FA is formamidinium—is incorporating into a yellow-phase FAPbI3 matrix (yellow). The 2D crystallites present a perovskite-like surface, which serves as a template for the FAPbI3 to convert to its photoactive phase (black).
We are thrilled to announce our new paper, "Two-dimensional perovskite templates for durable, efficient formamidinium perovskite solar cells," is now online on @ScienceMagazine science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…

Supported by machine learning, a multiparameter phase diagram of 2D halide perovskites for both Ruddlesden−Popper (RP) phases and Dion−Jacobson (DJ) phases are plotted. This work indicates that kinetics control is fundamental in realizing phase purity in 2D perovskites
We would like to thank all our collaborators @RiceEngineering @deep29jariwala @jc_blancon @mercouri @NUChemistry @RiceMSNE for their insightful contributions
