He survived 4 years of Akwa Ibom State University politics. He survived elections, aluta and stress of being SUG President. But he did not survive NYSC camp. Etimbuk Daniel, the immediate past SUG President of Akwa Ibom State University, has died at NYSC orientation camp in Enugu State after allegedly taking fake drugs. According to NANS President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, Etimbuk simply complained of headache at the camp. He was taken to the camp clinic where he was administered some medication. However, his condition got worsened after taking the drugs. He begged to be taken to the hospital. But approval allegedly came too late. He died before he could be taken to hospital. And the worst part? A doctor later identified the drugs given to Daniel as fake. Fake drugs inside NYSC camp clinic. Inside a government camp. This is a young man that finished school, full of dreams, went to serve his country and his country failed him. NANS has now demanded a thorough investigation. This is not just about Etimbuk. How many corps members have taken those drugs? How many camp clinics are stocking fake paracetamol? NYSC needs to answer. NAFDAC needs to answer. A students died because of ordinary headache and fake drug. May his soul rest in peace.
