Agreed Tim! If you are using Generative AI let everyone know! Shout it from the rooftops. This is why the Steam AI disclosure is so important. We all want to know you are using GenAI and then we can all avoid playing those games 🥰

Developers who are getting value from AI should speak up. There's safety in numbers. MOST developers are doing it and loving it - and if they're not talking about it it's mostly out of fear for haters attacking them, their product, and their company.

Halo Legends is by far the strongest piece of external Halo media.
Smaller more personal stories from different characters and time periods is where Halo should have gone.

In 2004, a German demoscene group released a game called .kkrieger.
It was a full 3D first-person shooter with dynamic lighting, textures, sound effects, music, and monster AI.
The entire executable was 96 kilobytes. Instead of storing images and audio files, they wrote C++ and Assembly that generated the 3D meshes, textures, and sound waves mathematically in RAM when the game booted.
Today, a single website's "Accept Cookies" banner is 10x larger than that entire 3D game.

Heres an example i did for my (failed) internship at Respawn Studios and DICE LA back in 2021/22
For my fellow tactislop artists who are interested in character design for your fictional/fantasy/ or mock-up factions, please use this as a reference. Color schemes used in the US RU AND CN factions are critical for differentiation of your factions, let alone gear assortment, uniforms, morale/nation patches, cutural references, etc. also look up character design tips from Team Fortress 2, but they had it easier since they had a more simplified, geometrical-dominated art scheme that helped made the characters recognizable.

genuine question when did the gamedev vibe shift from "we want to make games people want to play" to "as a provider of tools and technology to much of the industry we both acknowledge people hate what we're doing and do it anyway in favor of the nebulous concept of 'the future'"

Much of the room wants it to be 2016 again, but it's not. Our job, as the provider of tools and technology to much of the industry, is to design for the present that is and the future that will soon be. Personally I'm optimisic about it and see it as empowering for creators.

Becoming increasingly convinced the bf6 skins are being at the very least conceptualized by ai and go through zero quality checks before being released, worst case scenario is they're just generating these with meshy or some other bullshit, either way, some heads should roll
We didn't know what we had
