The rebate was a kickback. When someone used a contract, 30% of the gas went back to the contract owner and 70% got burned.
After the upgrade, none of it goes back. All execution gas is burned.

Zakura released Zakura Common, a new open-source stack for $ZEC wallets and nodes.
On its tests, making a shielded transaction on a phone is more than 14 times quicker, and creating a tx that now takes over three seconds can drop below 200ms in many cases.
No network upgrade is required. Zakura 1.3.0 and Tachyon are switching to it.
