.@GOtransit do better. Your social feeds have no 20:17 LW updates The announcements in union are garbled. Use all your comms channels. Have customer service ambassadors. Everyone is struggling and your radio silence is unacceptable.
.@GOtransit just some feedback on lakeshore west announcements at union. The place is packed and nobody can hear them.
Saddened to learn of the passing of Jim Bradley. An honourable man and so dedicated to Niagara. Rest in peace Jim.
It’s advance poll day. Heads up Hamilton Centre - the poll in east Hamilton is woefully understaffed. @ElectionsCan_E - you need more staff for the weekend. I’m 30 minutes into waiting and not even halfway to the poll clerk.
This is great news for a whole bunch of reasons - housing, transit, building community. In my wee corner of this gracious city. 😁 Former Faith Lutheran Church to be resurrected as affordable housing thespec.com/news/hamilton-re…
The incredible Somia Sadiq who is leading incredible work on reconciliation is a new member of the College of Fellows. Our profession is so much stronger with leaders like Somia. Congratulations. @CIP_ICU
I am incredibly saddened by the passing of Bryan Tuckey. An incredible visionary planner who transformed how we think about transit, suburbs and planning. His greatest gift was the Oak Ridges Moraine planning that led to the ORM Plan. Into the mystic Bryan.
Powerful. Leadership.
‼️ ICYMI: Yesterday, our province took an important step forward by allowing the use of Indigenous languages in the Ontario Legislature.
Thanks to the tireless advocacy and work of our Deputy Leader, MPP Sol Mamakwa, this change honours the language, culture and history of Indigenous peoples in Ontario.
It also directly confronts the colonial injustices faced by communities like Kiiwetinoong. It's a move from a history and present of silence to a future of strength and voice.
As New Democrats, we are committed to continuing our responsibility to reconciliation, not just with our words but with our actions.
And not just in the legislature, but everywhere our influence can help build a better future, a better province, and a better life for everyone.
As I went to the office today, I noticed a large truck with flashing lights heading into a vacant lot on Lawrence Road. I looked over. What I saw disturbed me. A lot. A person in a large SUV (really large), black, no markings. Phone in hand, videoing the area opposite. 1/
I worry for our city. We do not have the housing or the supports for our most vulnerable. And are we really becoming a city where it’s okay to video the most vulnerable? It is such an insult to one’s dignity. I don’t have answers but I am shocked at what I saw. 3/
The high cost of free parking.
What an appalling display of civic values. Free parking over affordable housing. Shame on each of you @TedMcMeekin @MarkTadeson @BCouncillor @jeffbeattie2014 @PaulsEsther @mspadafora2022 Matt Francis Tom Jackson #HamOnt
I agree with Mayor Horwath. The City is starting to do things differently to change the future of those in need of affordable housing. The 8 who voted no really need to say what they stand for. Largely the same group who voted down the vacant unit tax. Do better. Way better.
