Join a discussion tonight and learn tips & tricks from brain tumor survivors on how they manage daily activities. This will be invaluable for someone newly diagnosed so spread the word!
May is brain tumor awareness month. Don't lose momentum after a couple weeks - get involved! Your help is needed, and you can make a difference!
There are certain topics that you may be uncomfortable talking about with your doctor. In this community blog post, @MLCotcher shares how to bring up taboo topics. "No matter where the discussion goes, it is almost always better than not having it." #BTAM bit.ly/3cON9e5
A4: My advice on advocacy is to know that you don’t have to participate in a large scale event to make a difference. At first I wanted everything to be on a big scale and perfectly timed....and I missed plenty of opportunities to help the community. #BTSM
T1: My definition of advocacy has steadily changed over 13+ years of the disease. Today it is less of an active engagement at a specific event and more of a 24/365 engagement of being vocal about my disease and knowing that my daily life represents the brain tumor community #BTSM
Welcome all - glad you’re here! Matt from Georgia, USA. Dx’d - grade 2 ependymoma (brain stem) which recurred in 2017. Dad was Dx’d with terminal GBM in between. #BTSM
May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month #btam. The brain tumor community needs your help. If aren’t sure where to start, check out BTAM programs by @CERNfoundation or @sbtfoundation. The most important thing is to jump in and get involved - it doesn’t matter how you do it!
T3: When I settled in at home in early March, I challenged myself to do 2 things:
1. Cook something different for dinner for 30 days.
2. Each week to decrease the screen time usage (as reported by Apple) on my phone.
I highly recommend both things as distractions.
#btsm
T2: Being a 13 year brain tumor survivor has me well equipped to face current challenges. But as far as holding up, I admit that these days it feels like swimming upstream. #btsm
T1: I understand that it’s different everywhere but I have been unimpressed with how people seem to be ignoring things locally. So I stay home and out of their way. #btsm
Hey y’all - Matt C from Georgia, USA. I’m here to share & learn. I’ve been at this brain tumor thing since 2007. #btsm
