That’s what happens when you don’t have any outlets and you sit back on the edge of your D with 0 ability to maintain the ball. France have been great second half, that Olise- Cherki right hand side has been so so so dangerous.

A. KPB being here is hilarious, his only connection is being tatted with a mohawk B. These guys (high energy B2B with some goal threat) still exist. Valverde, Szoboszlai, Tonali, Anderson etc, difference is nowadays they get slandered as low tech "roadrunners"
They took this genre of players away from me 💔 🕊️

Yep Cavani genuinely changed my world in terms of what forward movement could be, both in terms of creating chances for yourself and also for the team, by being such a phenomenal mover.

In the spring of 2019, a young man named Khvicha Kvaratskhelia lived alone at Lokomotiv Moscow’s training ground. All these years later, Khvicha's hustle has paved a new path for a faded icon: the Eastern European creator. Now two new prospects - his little brother, and a stylish attacker set to join Arsenal - walk along the bridge he built. This is the story of Georgia, a nation re-learning how to unleash it's mercurial heart. By @SerbFootyScout Read: bit.ly/dribbling-in-the-dark

Idea of a #10 existing solely btl is a v JDP-centric idea Go back and watch the classic 10s and most of them had a tendency to drift deeper and/or wider to receive the ball, and that's in an era where space btl was always available
I have a golden rule… players with long/big frames should not play #10 except if he has exceptional manipulation relative to his frame which is quite rare to find. A #10 needs elite small space control relative to their frame. The larger the frame, the more exceptional the player’s balance, coordination and manipulation need to be. À smaller and more compact frame naturally has a low COG which gives the right balance for micro adjustments & ball shielding which is vital in the #10 areas (Olmo, Odegaard, Cherki, Silva) What do you need from your #10? — Ball security — Manipulation — Progression — Creation — Spatial intelligence — Final 3rd threat The #10 is essentially the team’s central attacking problem-solver. He receives where space is scarce, often with pressure behind or around him, and is expected to turn that possession into an advantage with minimal time. The physical profile matters because the first four requirements are heavily dependent on small space control. So a compact frame can provide a natural biomechanical advantage. Larger frames like Bellingham, Olise, Palmer, Rogers etc àre biomechanically built to dominate big spaces rather than small spaces. Ask yourself this question: Can you give this player the ball in the most congested area of the pitch and trust him to twist & turn to create an advantage?

Joao Neves as great of a leaper/aerially he is, getting a header off in Norways box against their 6’6 CBs is incredible

Brighton really excels at baiting opponents forward, pinning their backline, stretching the space BTLs, regressing via backward passing, and then immediately working the ball out centrally via one-touch passes (close proximity advantage) into the generated gap.
During Manchester United's periods of passivity, Brighton resorted to backward passing to break down United's shape. Baiting the front and midfield line & pinning the backline created a hole BTLs for Brighton to find that pass into the gap generated.

He's played his whole career with his boyhood club. He's won two major trophies with them. He's regularly played Europa League and Champions League with them. Hes won the Nations League, Euros and World Cup. A wasted career? Behave.
It’s a shame Oyarzabal has wasted his whole career at Real Sociedad. Top player.

🚨🎙️ | Gary Lineker: "I must congratulate the Glazers on finding someone even WORSE than them that they can blame and getting him in there and getting all the stick: Jim Ratcliffe. "I don’t think he’s a particularly PLEASANT human being, and it’s a bit of a shambles of a football club the way it’s being run at the moment. "So, well done to the Glazers on that one, deflecting everything AWAY from them!" [@RestIsFootball]

The return of Jose Mourinho to Santiago Bernabeu has changed nothing for Real Madrid. The team is covering even lesser distance per game than the last season and are currently at the bottom in La Liga in terms of average distance covered per game. The issue with Mbappe-Vinicius dynamic is still as it was the last season with both players occupying more or less the same areas of the pitch. Ball progression and controlling the tempo of the game is another challenge. The preferred midfield duo of Tchouameni and Valverde is not fit for it. The only somewhat viable option, Bernardo Silva has not impressed Mourinho in terms of his physical level. I don't see any solution for Real Madrid unless Mourinho takes some tough decisions after the international break. Needs to find solutions to all these problems but that would require upsetting a few 'Galacticos.'

This list is hilarious considering how the main narrative about these players’ limitations all year have been about winning duels/ground coverage,
Kobbie Mainoo has won possession more times (40) than any other player in the Premier League this season. 🥇 Kobbie Mainoo 🥈 Lewis Hall 🥉 Alex Scott Man Utd’s best outfielder so far this term.

Top 3 worst takes post Fulham result, the comparison doesn’t make sense. With LVG, even at the worst times, we at least had an idea of what we’re trying to do.
There's way too much Louis van Gaal in this United team for my liking Not surprising when you hire a guy whose said his biggest (coaching) influence is Louis van Gaal
