the weight point is the big one for me. older designs feel heavy because the body sits on its shadow, newer ones kind of float.. same thing happens in cel shading when the cast shadow is missing
drawing mtg commander art is a different game. you plan where the frame and text box sit before the first line, so the face never ends up under the type box

default g-pen still holds up for anime lineart honestly, but a pencil brush for the sketch layer makes cleanup way easier to see
