Check out @DanielleBRice__ @Dmoher et al's new article that reviewed biomedical faculty guidelines and found that traditional research practices (e.g, peer-reviewed publications) are incentivized while non-traditional criteria (e.g, data sharing) are not: bmj.com/content/369/bmj.m208…

Myself and the excellent @jonathanasterne wrote a blog post expanding on our recent paper. The post aims to more clearly articulate why we should be cautious about #selectionbias in #COVIDー19 studies looking in hospitalised patients. Here's a quick #epitwitter tweetorial:
There have been lots of studies looking at associations with #covid19 outcomes in hospitalised patients. But their findings may be misleading because of #selectionbias. Here's a blog explaining why. bit.ly/370jGvJ @Garethjgriffith @bristimtom @mendel_random #epitwitter

A living mapping of ongoing research on interventions to prevent and treat Covid-19 @CochraneFrance @MIRORProject
A living mapping of studies registered has been developed in collaboration with @LIRISLyon. You can now filter studies by type of pharmacological treatment, registration date, study aim, severity scale + an interactive map of clinical trials per country: covid-nma.com/dataviz/

How can we avoid research waste during the covid-19 pandemic and plan for the future?-go.shr.lc/2Vsqo9I has several excellent points. @CovidNma is a LIVING mapping of ongoing #COVID19 Covid19 research in REAL TIME. Rapidity AND Rigor!

It doesn't matter how important your research is. If it isn't clearly and completely reported, no-one can judge, replicate, or use your work. Prevent research waste. Use reporting guidelines.
New study shows poor reporting of "Prediction models for diagnosis and prognosis of covid-19 infection: systematic review and critical appraisal" (tinyurl.com/uuxncfg). Studies should adhere to the TRIPOD reporting guideline tinyurl.com/y4kxcm8n & tinyurl.com/y2mkd3tx

Spin is using language to, e.g., make results seem more important or useful than warranted by the design or actual results. @MonaGhannad from @MIRORProject is testing an editorial intervention to reduce spin with @BMJ_Open. #REWARD2020 Protocol here: osf.io/tnx53/

A really neat evidence synthesis that highlights the 'burden' of research on trial participants - identifies many modifiable aspects that can be tackled by good design & planning. Info provision across trial still a big problem - we MUST get better bmcmedicine.biomedcentral.co…
