Latvian Minister of Defence Raivis Melnis met with Chief of the National Guard Bureau Gen. Steve Nordhaus at the Pentagon to discuss our close bilateral defense cooperation.
This year marks 33 years since Latvia and the U.S. signed the State Partnership Program agreement, establishing our enduring partnership with @MINationalGuard.
Over the decades, our cooperation has grown into a strong mutual bond - from joint exercises in Michigan and Latvia to vital defense infrastructure projects, including the development of the Sēlija Training Range. 🇱🇻🤝🇺🇸

More than 9,000 service members from 36 states and territories are training alongside our foreign partners in a demanding, multi-domain environment built to strengthen interoperability, sharpen combat skills, and build lethal formations ready to fight and win.

For more than 30 years, the @MINationalGuard and Latvian National Guard @zemessardze_LV have trained side by side. This summer, their engineers joined Danish forces at Sēlija Military Training Ground to build defensive training areas that strengthen allied readiness and NATO’s eastern flank. 🇺🇸🇱🇻

In celebration of Latvia’s Restoration of Independence Day, the @USAFEBAND joined #Latvia's National Guard @zemessardze_LV Orchestra in a powerful display of friendship and partnership. The USAFE Band marched proudly in the parade in Aizkraukle and performed joint concerts with the National Guard Orchestra in both Aizkraukle and Rīga, bringing together the sounds of two nations united in common purpose and shared values.
